**FEW WEEKS LATER**
I was still on bedrest, Andy wanted to stay home but he had court that day and couldn't. Jacob was off school, some kind of in-service/teachers off day so we also kept Faith home because she wanted a day with Jacob.
I was lying in bed, trying to nap when I felt a twinge of pain in my stomach that radiated to my back. It made me sit up and I grabbed my stomach. I rubbed my stomach, and it stopped so I figured the baby just kicked and kicked hard. I then noticed I had to go to the bathroom which I knew I could do on my own no matter what Andy thought since he always helped me to get into the bathroom.
I walked into the bathroom, and I reached the sink and then had to stop again with the pain. It was bad, it was really bad. I was gripping the counter when I felt a gush between my legs and I groaned knowing I had a slight accident but then I looked and noticed my water had broken, I was in labor.
"JAKE!!" I yelled in panic, and he came rushing up the stairs. He came into my ensuite bathroom and saw me standing in a puddle of water.
"What happened?!" Jacob asked.
"My water just broke, I need to get to the hospital." I said and he panicked.
"Do I call Grandma and Grandpa? Dad? Who do I call?!" Jacob asked.
"We have to go now. You have your learners permit, I can be in the car with you while you drive so pack up your sister, grab your guys and my go bag and then help me out to the car." I said. Jacob just stood there.
"I can't drive you!" Jacob panicked.
"Jacob, my parents won't get here in time, they are in Salem with some friends. Please Jake, I have to get changed, go get Faith and everything packed up then come and help me down the stairs." I said, I knew Jake was panicking, I waddled over to him and placed my hands on his shoulders. "I know I'm asking a lot right now, but I need you to do this for me." I said and Jake nodded. He rushed out of the room as I went into the bathroom, cleaned myself up and changed into a pair of sweatpants and a maternity top.
I was in the hallway when Jacob came up the stairs and found me. He took my arm and helped me down the stairs, easily, helped me slip on shoes and we headed to the car.
Once I was loaded in, I looked at Faith in the backseat, all buckled in.
"Mommy? Are you okay?" Faith asked.
"I am sweetie, the baby is on its way though." I said and she smiled excitedly.
Jacob got in the driver's seat, checked all his mirrors and easily backed out of the driveway. I knew Andy was in court and wouldn't answer his phone, so I called the next best thing.
"Lynne Cavanagh." She answered her phone.
"Hey Lynne, it's Mel." I said and then breathed through a contraction.
"Everything okay?" Lynne asked.
"No, I need you to go to court and get Andy. I have Jake driving me to the hospital right now, my water just broke." I explained.
"I'll go get him and he will be on his way." Lynne said and hung up. I then called my parents and let them know they were going to be on their way as fast as they could.
**ANDY POV**
I was in court and in the middle of questioning a witness when the door opened to the courtroom and Lynne came walking in, but she showed no regard to what was going on and walked right up to the judge who told Andy to wait a minute. The judge looked at me and then nodded to Lynne. She walked over to me as the judge spoke.
"DA Cavanagh will be taking over for ADA Barber at this time." He said to the other lawyer, and they nodded.
"What is going on?" I asked confused.
"You need to get to the hospital, Jacob is driving Mel, her water broke." Lynne said. My eyes went wide, and I just grabbed my cellphone and left all the paperwork and evidence on the table, quickly leaving the courthouse. I needed to get to my girl and be with her while she had our baby. I smiled as I got to the car, it was time to do this all over again.
**MEL POV**
I was lying in the hospital bed, Jake was sitting on the couch in the room keeping Faith occupied, especially since she was concerned when they said I would have to be monitored to make sure the baby was okay.
"Where is daddy?" Faith asked and I sighed looking at my parents who also came in.
"I don't know baby girl, Lynne said she was going to go get him." I said trying to get my phone, but they moved it out of my reach.
"I'll call him." Jacob said and pulled out his phone.
"No need to call, I'm here. Sorry." Andy said rushing in the room and over to me. He leaned down, gave me a small kiss. He noticed the baby monitor hooked up and sighed. "Is everything okay?" Andy asked and I nodded.
"Since I have been on bedrest, they just want to make sure everything is okay." I said and he nodded.
The doctor came walking in.
"Okay we need to check the mama to make see where we are. Who is staying...?" She asked and I looked at Andy who I noticed was in a dress shirt and dress pants.
"I am." Andy said. I looked at my parents.
"Can you take the kids to the waiting room?" I asked and they nodded Jake stood up, picked up Faith and brought her over to me. I gave her a hug and kiss, Andy did the same and them I kissed Jake's cheek. "Thank you for driving me here." I said and he smiled.
"It was terrifying!" Jacob said and we all laughed as they left. I got set and the doctor lifted the sheet.
"You are about ready to start pushing, Let's go ahead and get everything set up.
"Andy, you can change clothes, the bag is over there." I pointed and then the nurse in the room handed him scrubs to put on over his clothes. I smiled as he walked into the bathroom and changed. I rubbed my stomach as everyone moved around getting everything ready.
"Okay little man, it's time to make your appearance." I whispered rubbing my stomach.
