Upon opening the door, I was met with a familiar sight – Of course, it was Ben outside with his signature enthusiastic smirk on his face. Next to him was Kris, looking somewhat out of place but otherwise cheerful.
"Well, if it isn't the God of Sleep himself!" Ben jokingly greeted me with his annoying, yet comforting enthusiasm. Kris nodded along excitedly.
"What do you want?" I replied, my voice raspy and groggily from not talking all day.
Ben chuckled at my "grumpiness", most likely enjoying my irritation.
"Oh, come on, Matt! Don't act like you're not happy to see your best friends," he teased with that stupid grin on his face.
Kris chimes in, shifting anxiously, "We hoped it would be great to take you out to dinner at your favorite restaurant to celebrate your birthday. Hope you don't mind."
Now, if it was Ben asking me that question, I would have instantly said no. But, picking favorites is always hard...
For a normal person. "Fine. I accept your dinner proposal." I spoke groggily.
What? Like I can say no to Kris.
