Later that night, Pavel sat at the dining table, his attention absorbed by his phone as he texted Pooh. A flirty smile played on his lips, completely oblivious to the dinner his wife had lovingly prepared. She placed the dishes on the table and watched him, waiting patiently for him to finish. But when she saw that he wasn't going to look up anytime soon, she softly called his name.

"Pavel?"

"...."

 "Pavel?"

"...."

"Hmm?" Pavel responded absentmindedly, his eyes still glued to his phone.

"Can I talk to you for a second?" she asked, her voice gentle but insistent.

Pavel sighed and put his phone aside, finally looking at her. "What?"

"Thank you for being a great dad to our Prim," she said, gently patting his hand.

Pavel was taken aback by her sudden gratitude. He looked at her, a hint of confusion in his eyes. She took a deep breath, clearly struggling to find the right words.

"I never thought you would marry me, knowing that I was pregnant with someone else's child. Besides, there's one more thing I want you to know."

"What is it?" Pavel asked, his curiosity piqued.

"I... I really don't care who you date or with whom you sleep, but can you take custody of my Prim?" she asked, wiping a tear from her cheek.

"W-what? What's wrong? Jacqueline, what's wrong?" Pavel's voice was filled with concern and confusion.

"I- I have leukemia, Pavel," she confessed, her voice breaking. "And I have really a short time left to spend with Prim. After I die, please take care of her as your own daughter. Promise me?"

Pavel's heart sank. He felt a wave of guilt wash over him for having a secret affair with Pooh. The gravity of Jacqueline's revelation hit him hard. He reached out and took her hand, his eyes filled with remorse and love.

"Jacqueline, I... I'm so sorry. I had no idea. Of course, I'll take care of Prim. I promise," he said, his voice trembling.

Jacqueline nodded, tears streaming down her face. "Thank you, Pavel. It means the world to me."

Pavel pulled her into a gentle embrace, his mind racing with a mixture of guilt, sorrow, and determination. He knew that from this moment on, his priorities had to change. He had to be there for Asya and honor the promise he made to Jacqueline, even as he grappled with the complexities of his feelings for Pooh.

As they held each other, Pavel realized the depth of Jacqueline's love and trust in him. It was a bittersweet moment, one that marked a significant turning point in his life. He vowed to be the best father he could be for Prim and to support Jacqueline through her remaining time, no matter how difficult it would be.
