THIRD PERSON POV
Jungkook nervously chewed on his nails and tapped his left foot on the marble floor, anxiously awaiting the arrival of Mr. Min. He knew that Mr. Min would come and scold him for his lack of carelessness. Ever since Jungkook had been promoted to the final year of school, it seemed like Mr. Min had made it his mission to push Jungkook out of his comfort zone and encourage him to be more involved in class activities, even though Jungkook had never expressed any desire for that.
Jungkook was abruptly brought back to reality by a sudden shout. He turned around to see a tall boy with a charming smile, who placed his hand on Jungkook's shoulder. Even without looking, Jungkook immediately recognized him as Kim Mingyu.
Mingyu was one of Jungkook's friends, or rather, Jungkook considered himself to be Mingyu's friend. Mingyu was always accompanied by his friend Cha Eun Woo, a handsome boy with a quieter personality. This made Jungkook wonder how someone as loud as Mingyu could be friends with someone as reserved as Eun Woo.
The trio had become friends at the beginning of their final year when they were grouped together by Mr. Min for an assignment. While Eun Woo took charge of most of the work, Jungkook volunteered to handle the printing of the entire assignment. Mingyu joined them for the presentation.
"Hey! Jungkookie!"
"Why are you shouting? I can hear you just fine," Jungkook replied, his gaze fixed on the two boys.
"We're heading to the Arcade after school, and we really don't want our friend to miss out," Mingyu declared. "It's going to be a blast! Don't disappoint us this time!" Mingyu urged Jungkook, almost insisting that he join them at the Arcade.
Jungkook enjoys playing video games, but he prefers the comfort of his own room where he can play without any interruptions or distractions, and he can even play for longer periods of time if he wants to.
"Um, I don't think that's possible" Jungkook struggled to come up with an excuse. He nervously mentioned, "I have to go home early for a family dinner and need to get ready." He scratched his head, feeling unsure about his own explanation.
"Maybe, we can go to the Arcade another time?" Jungkook suggested, avoiding eye contact with the disappointed Mingyu.
"Sure, but it would've been more fun if you came," Mingyu responded.
Eunwoo chimed in, "How about joining us at the cafeteria?" Jungkook's face lit up as he replied, "Definitely, as long as you promise to get me my favorite banana milkshake."
He smiled genuinely for the first time that day.
"Anything for you, bunny!" Mingyu playfully teased, patting Jungkook on the back before heading to his seat.
Jungkook sighed, feeling a mix of annoyance and fondness towards his friend who always teased him.
The teenagers' laughter quickly faded as a middle-aged man with a round belly walked into the room. Jungkook felt a wave of fear wash over him as Mr. Min's stern expression made it clear that he was not in the mood for any nonsense today.
His tired eyes and furrowed brow sent a chill down Jungkook's spine. With just one look, Mr. Min silenced the room, and Jungkook knew he was in for a rough lesson.
Without a word, Mr. Min began reviewing the math problems that had been left unfinished from the previous class.
Jungkook was completely clueless about anything except the fact that they were dealing with numbers.
After completing four math problems, Mr. Min believed that it was sufficient for the students to learn for the day. He proceeded to open the attendance register and began marking everyone's presence.
Jungkook nervously awaited his turn, but to his dismay, Mr. Min simply skipped over him, causing his anxiety to intensify.
After finishing the attendance, he immediately called the name "Jeon Jungkook".
Jungkook nervously swallowed the lump in his throat and rose from his seat, avoiding direct eye contact.
"Could you kindly enlighten me, Mr. Jeon, as to why you believe engaging in other activities takes precedence over attending my lectures?" Mr. Min inquired calmly, causing Jungkook to feel a sense of relief.
"I apologize, I promise it won't occur again," Jungkook expressed with a slight bow, hoping that Mr. Min would overlook the mistake this time.
"Obviously, you're sorry," Mr. Min responded. "To earn forgiveness, you must write a two-page essay about teenagers and socializing. Submit it to me on the first day after your vacation, as today is your last day before the break," Mr. Min instructed.
When the other teenagers in the room heard that, they couldn't help but ask excitedly, "Wait, we still had a whole week left, right?!"
"Indeed, due to some renovations happening in the school, it might become quite dusty and dirty. That's why you all will be granted your vacations," Mr. Min declared.
"I hope each and every one of you will take some time to consider the colleges you plan on applying to, as well as your future aspirations and, most importantly, your social life," Mr. Min began. "Having strong social connections is crucial, as it opens up numerous opportunities and allows you to develop your social skills during your teenage years," he added, directing his gaze towards the boy standing in the second row.
"Alright, I wish you all the best and hope you have a fantastic vacation," Mr. Min concluded before packing up his belongings and exiting the classroom.
Jungkook let out a long sigh as he sank into his seat, dreading the thought of sitting through more classes.
Even though it was only the first period, he was already homesick and had five more classes to get through.
Knowing that it was the last day of school before a two-month break gave him the motivation to push through.
