'Dad, please don't go.' Harry Potter said, clinging on to his father's leg tightly.
'Harry, come on. I will be back tonight.' James Potter, Harry's father, said.
'Harry, darling, let go of his leg.' Lily Potter, Harry's mother, countered.
'No.' Harry whined. 'He won't come back.'
'Harry, we have been over this: Sirius Black is not a big deal.'
Harry looked up at his dad's face, incredulous. 'He is not a big deal? Dad, he's a serial killer.'
'Harry, he is one, yes. But I assure you, Sirius Black is nothing compared to me.' James said.
He and Harry have had this same conversation more than three times already. James knew Harry was afraid of him getting into a fight with the infamous Sirius Black, who escaped Azkaban after thwelve years. All the Aurors at the Ministry were busy and on a tight schedule, working around the clock to find him. James was among the other Aurors who were sent to battle the prisoner. Already he was late for work. And Harry was not making it easy for him either.
'Harry, please. I promise you, I will be back.' James said. Then, more seriously and surprised, 'Where is this even coming from?'
Harry held on to his father. He was not embarrassed at all doing this. He just didn't want his dad to leave him. Anything could happen. He could get injured. Or worse de - Harry shook the thought away.
James smiled at his wife, desperate. Lily shrugged in a way that said, your problem, not mine. James crouched and pulled his son from the ground and pulled him into a tight hug. Harry hugged him back tightly, not wanting his dad to leave at all.
'I will come back.' James promised.
'But -'
'Harry, have I ever disappointed you?' James asked him.
Harry shook his head instantly.
James nodded. 'Exactly. And therefore, I tell you now, I will come back. You trust me, right?'
Harry nodded again.
'Yes. And therefore I tell you, I will come back.' James said. 'I promise.'
Harry heard the truth in his father's voice. He was going to come back. He will, like always.
James opened his arm to his wife. She came into his opened arms and hugged him and their son.
Lily and Harry. They were James' world. He'd do anything for them. Even die.
They pulled apart. James kisded Harry's forehead and pecked Lily's cheek.
'Tell you what, kid. When I get back, we'll go to the cinema. How's that?' James said.
Harry grinned. 'Great.'
James smiled some more. 'Good. I will see you tonight.' And with that he left.
'Okay, sweetheart, completed all your assignments?' Lily asked Harry.
'No.' He answered, rubbing his neck.
'Then that is how you're going to spend your day.' Lily said.
Harry groaned. 'I hate home work.'
