Nine days later, Harry's birthday came.
The door of Harry's room burst open and James and Lily entered, singing, 'Happy birthday to you, Harry birthday to you, happy birthday dear Harry. Happy birthday to you.'
Harry, now awake, sat up grinning. 'Come on,'
'Happy birthday, kid.' James said, raising Harry off his bed and spinning him around and dropping him.
'Thanks.' Harry responded.
'Happy birthday, sweetheart.' Lily said smiling brightly. She kissed Harry on the cheek and pulled him to a hug. Harry hugged her back.
'Your presents are downstairs but first, take a shower, change, 'cos we're going out.' James said.
'Really? Where?' Harry asked his dad.
'It's a surprise.' Lily said. 'Come on.' and the couple made to go when Harry said, 'Wait.'
They turned. 'Yes?'
'Is Malfoy coming along?' Harry asked.
James and Lily turned to each other then back to Harry. 'No.' James answered.
'Well, we figured it's your birthday so you'd want to spend it with us alone -' Lily started.
'No!' Harry exclaimed, startling his parents. 'I mean, no. He should come with us.'
Lily and James thought they hadn't heard well. 'You want Draco to come...with us?'
Harry nodded. 'Yes, Mom. It's my birthday. I cannot celebrate it without him.'
James and Lily looked at each other again and back at Harry in shock. The two of them thought Harry would not want the boy with them so they had thought of taking him to Snape for the day then after that he'd go back for him. Suddenly plans has to change.
'No problem. Then go and wake him up and the two of you get ready for us to leave.' James said.
Harry grinned brightly and got out of bed and went to Draco's bedroom, which was next to his.
James and Lily were rather frozen. Did they or they not just hear Harry say he want Malfoy to follow them? Could it be? Could the prayers the parents have been praying for be finally coming to pass? Thank Merlin.
'Finally, we're going to have peace.' James stated gratefully.
'I necer thought this would happen so quickly.' Lily said to him. 'But,' she shrugged. 'ah well.'
Harry went to Draco's room. Draco was fast asleep, snoring lightly. Harry went to his bedside and shook the boy up.
Draco shouted in alarm at Harry's sudden act. Then he got annoyed when he saw Harry. 'Potter, what is your problem? It is eight in the morning. It's too early.'
'It is not, no. It is my birthday.' Harry told him.
'Who doesn't know? Happy birthday, Potter.' Draco saud sleepily then put his head back on the pillow.
'Thank you, but you don't get it.' Harry said, too excited. 'We're going out!'
This woke Draco up. He raised his head and turned to Harry. 'What did you say, Potter?'
'We're going out. A trip. Beach. Somewhere! Get out of bed now!' Harry said, raising Draco up.
'You...you want me to go with you for your b - birthday?' Draco stammered.
'Of course. Why not?' Harry said. 'Now get out of bed and let's go.' And Harry went out.
Draco stayed in the bed, surprised. Why would Potter want him to go with him for his birthday? Because the other day James had told him he'd be going to Snape. Draco hadn't thought much about it but now that Potter invited him, he couldn't help but feel a slight joy. No, much joy. He smiled brightly.
Draco got out of bed and went to the bathroom.
The Potters were done in an hour and a half. Harry had his mom perform numerous spells just to make him look good and handsome. His hair was made flat and sleek. At some point he looked good but then he started to get unfomfortable so Lily broke the spell and Harry's hair went to its original unruly, untidy nature. He was dressed casually in a red stripped round neck, black shorts, white socks and blue concerse shoes. His dad's first birthday present for him.
When he was done he went to Draco's room. 'Malfoy?'
'Yeah? Still showering, I will done soon.' The boy shouted from the bathroom.
'How soon?' Harry asked suspiciously.
'Ten minutes from now.' Draco said.
'Malfoy, we're late. Hurry.' Harry whined.
'All right, all right. Geez, you do not rush showering.' Malfoy said.
Before long he was done. He stepped out of the bathroom, wrapped waist down with a white towel and another one wrapped round his head.
'Malfoy, we're goinf to be late.' Harry said to him.
'Hold your horses, Potter. Now leave.' Draco said to the boy.
Harry rolled his eyes but left. Thirty minutes later Draco was done. He stepped out of the room. His blonde hair was shiny and sleek, slipped backwards. He was wearing a green tee shirt, cargo pants and black converse. For a boy who liked to dress like he lived in the 1800s, he knew how to dress well.
'So, off we go then.' Malfoy said.
