Vrishasen's Lakshmana

Chapter Three

Lakshmana smiled as Vatsala met Laxman. But for some reason, she thought Vatsala didn't look happy.

"Sena. She doesn't look happy", Laxmana said to him.

"I can see Abhimanyu sad too", Vrishasen muttered back. Both of them were confused seeing Vatsala and Abhimanyu sad.

"Talk to her Mana", Vrishsena said. Lakshmana nodded.

After everyone was told to sit for a chit chat, Lakshmana pulled Vatsala aside.

"Bhabhi. Is something wrong?" Lakshmana asked. "You don't look happy. Don't you like my brother?" She asked.

Vatsala seemed to hesitate.

"Don't hesitate bhabhi. I will support you", she assured.

"Nothing. Trust me", Vatsala smiled.

Lakshmana decided to not insist further seeing her uncomfortable.

She turned around and saw Vatsyala, Vatsala's twin looking at Vrishasen dreamily.

Lakshmana's smile fell. Vatsala went away as Balram was calling her.

"Sena", she called. Vrishsena came to her. Lakshmana held his hand and glared at Vatsyala who looked away.

"What is this?" Vrishsena asked amused.

"Nothing", Lakshmana said hurriedly as Vrishsena laughed.

They entered the court.

"I have another arrangement I will wish to talk off", Balram said smiling.

"Vatsyala's marriage to Vrishsena"

The smiles of Lakshmana and Vrishsena fell off hearing it. Did they just hear correct?

"What?" Karna asked shocked.

Vrishsena suddenly felt the need to glance at Laxmana who was feeling like collapsing hearing it for some reason.

"Vrishsena and Vatsyala. That's a nice arrangement mitr", Duryodhan smiled.

"Yeah..." Supriya said slowly but she was shocked at this sudden proposal. She looked at her son who didn't look happy at all.

"I can't say anything without asking my putr about it", Karna said.

Vatsyala was grinning looking at Vrishasen.

"Vrish, what do you think?" Balram asked smiling.

"My putr won't answer it right now. This came out as a sudden proposal. He will think about it and then tell his answer", Karna said firmly.

He smiled as Vrishsena and Lakshmana sighed in relief.

He got a faint idea of what was happening.

He just wanted these both to realise.

"Let's go forward with the discussions for Laxman and Vatsala's marriage", Krishna said.

Lakshmana looked at Vrish. Will he agree for this arrangement?

Vrishsena was glancing at her too.

Vatsyala went out. Pradyumna went behind her.

After a few moments, Laxshmana went outside as well. She was feeling her mind messed up.

She was walking when she heard sobbing sound.

She looked on to see Vatsyala was crying and Pradyumna was trying to console her.

"I want him, I love him so much", Vatsyala said.

Laxmana felt her heart fell hearing it.

"He has just asked for some time before declaring his decision. He will say yes, don't worry", Pradyumna said.

Will he say yes?

No. He can't. He won't say yes. He won't leave her.

But wait. Why was she scared?

He will still remain her best friend. He is not going anywhere.

But then why was she scared of loosing him?

What was happening to her?

Laxshmana cried silently and went on the other side. She didn't know what was wrong with her.

She was feeling crazy.

She sobbed and sat down somewhere in the garden.

She heard footsteps.

"Are you crying?" She saw Vrishsena. He didn't look in any better state.

"No", she said wiping her tears.

"Lier", he muttered and came and sat beside her.

"What will be your decision?" Laxshmana asked after a few moments of silence.

She was praying he said no for unknown reasons.

"I don't know", he said.

"I think something is pulling me back from saying yes. I don't know what. Just something", he said and glanced at her.

Both felt their eyes were saying so much.

"What do you want to me say?" He asked her.

"I don't know as well but I will suggest you to follow your heart Sena", she said stopping herself from breaking down.

He looked exactly in same state. He didn't want to refuse and let his kakashree's bond with his gurudev get ruined.

She wanted his happiness and she thought that why would he say no to the daughter of the wise Balram.

Both were crying because they felt like this marriage would forever separate them.

And they hated this fact.

"Are you happy with Vatsyala?" Lakshmana asked.

"She's nice", he whispered breaking her heart. "but I don't want to say yes", he said.

"Why?" She asked.

"I don't know", his shoulders slumped.

"Let's go inside", Laxshmana wiped her tears. "Everyone must be waiting", she said.

He nodded and they stood up.

Both left in daze trying to figure out their own thoughts.

While they didn't notice Saambh standing there and glaring at the scene.

He could see the love between them which they didn't realise yet.

And he will take advantage of it.

"You are mine Laxshmana", he said. "and I will have you no matter what", he said further.

I asked someone.

Vatsyala and Vatsala are the same. In Telugu version, she is married to Abhimanyu.
In Bengali, Oriya, Assamese versions, she is said to be married to Vrishsena.
In Ved vyas, she's married to someone not named.

So I added her as seperate characters, one is Vatsala and other is Vatsyala.

And you must have guessed the role of Vatsyala in this story?

And why is Vatsala sad?
