" Why do we have to do this? Aren't the alphas teaming up with their mates only? " Taehyung mumbled out while rolling his eyes at the flower bracelets. " Yes but tradition you see. Just pick one! You are the first one to pick. " Yoonji said as she held out the tray of flower bracelets for him. He looked through the bracelets before choosing the one made of daisies. " Now go put it on Jeon's wrist. " She said with a proud smile which made him scoff again. This was so embarrassing to him for some reason. Sighing out, he watched as Leehan picked one as well. Apparently they made an exception so Leehan was allowed to choose any random alpha for the competition. They did it because the guests wouldn't be here till next year, they said. Sighing out he decided to find Jungkook who got lost once again when he got dragged into ground where the competition would take place.
He could see that Leehan also got up, to find an alpha to team up with him, he guessed. He was starting to get annoyed since Jungkook was nowhere in his vision. " Why would you do that sweetheart?! " He heard Leehan's mother's surprised yet concerned voice in the distance behind him. So he turned around... Just to see Leehan standing beside Jungkook, laughing so hard over some shit he seemingly found funny. He sighed out once again in annoyance while he walked towards them, only stopping in a halt when he noticed the bracelet on his alpha- the alpha's wrist. He could only see red in his eyes as he turned around to make his way out of there. Was this some kind of prank? Some type of joke he didn't know about? There were so many alphas present there but that omega from another kingdom chose to do this?! He never knew he made an enemy? His fingers crushed the daisies onto his palm as his fist tightened till there was so beauty of the flowers felt. It only spoke pain and anger.
" Stop acting like this and sacrifice your pettiness for once Tae, you are the prince for a reason. This is not a big deal. Not like you wanted to be paired with Jeon anyways. You can join with anyone else, go. " He felt himself getting stopped by the queen in front of him, who just stared at him, cold while she whispered her words. " I don't want to- " " I have never denied you anything you have ever wanted. Today I'm doing that. You can't leave. " Her words made him feel so betrayed for some reason. Their so simple of an act in public mattered more than his feelings and humiliation? Couldn't she feel the humiliation he was feeling? His spouse was with Leehan? He was never familiar with this version of his mother. After taking a few seconds to recollect himself, he wanted up to the guards and calmly put the bracelet on Jaehyun, who was as confused as everyone else in the place. " Let's begin! " The queen said with a smile, a poor attempt to take the attention away from what was going on between the royalties.
" Do your best please. Try for hyung... Don't you think it will be amazing to see their shocked faces when they see us wining? " Taehyung mumbled out while trying his best to hold back his tears as he finished tying the bracelet's knot. Jaehyun just hummed... Even though he was only guessing what had happened, he didn't like how Taehyung was looking in front of him. Sad, not his usual cold demeanor with a blank face.... Just sad. His eyes spoke more than Jaehyun needed to hear. It was clearly not even about winning anymore, " I will try to win for you hyung! "
Soon the competition started as one alpha went against another with sword every round. Taehyung was very apparently, unwillingly sitting beside Leehan who had been cheering for Jungkook the entire time. He had to tank that thing only because his mother was also sitting beside him. Unsurprisingly at the end Jungkook was at the final round. A smirk replaced Taehyung's pout when he realized Jaehyun was qualified to the final round as well. Now the match was Jungkook vs Jaehyun. This was already a win in his book. He didn't expect the extremely young alpha come this far. He knew undoubtedly Jungkook was going to win this year, everyone knew honestly but he still decided to cheer for Jaehyun to show his appreciation. At least Jaehyun did try for him when Jungkook, his supposedly husband and alpha didn't even try to avoid teaming up with Leehan. He sat there with a smile as he watched the older alpha going at Jaehyun without taking one single hit. Obviously, it was basically Jaehyun's teacher, duh.
Jaehyun was trying his best in taking and block the beating that was coming straight from his mentor. Almost everyone present there knew Jungkook was going to win, it was so obvious. It got to a point where the older alpha was only one hit away from victory when he finally managed to looked at Taehyung for the last time. The omega just scoff to express disgust and pure annoyance, it was his poor attempt to hide the fact that he was... Hurt. He hated to admit it but he was indeed hurt. He could feel how Jungkook just continued staring at him before getting himself thrown on the ground by Jaehyun, who was just as shocked as everyone else. The older alpha manager to make an excuse of a defensive move when the younger alpha targeted his face. That was how the kingdom's warlord ended up on the ground with crimson liquid leaking from his injured corner of the mouth.
How the fuck that did happen? , that was exactly everyone's thought. Audible gasps could be heard from the audience as it was could as the defeat of Jeon Jungkook which made Jaehyun the winner. Now Taehyung and Jaehyun were the winner of the competition. Leehan gasped along with the other audiences before deflating into his seat. His disappointment on Jungkook couldn't be any more apparent than this. The younger alpha tried to nervously grin through his shocked state while he helped to get the warlord back into his feet. Everyone cheered, now they had the winners and competition of this season was more entertaining than any other season. Everyone seemed to be happy about that. That was probably the beauty and tragedy of Silla... It had it's beauty reserved only because everyone in the kingdom was so thirsty for violence and war that fights like these were just some small source of entertainment to them.
Taehyung also tried his best to smile through his state of disbelief. Well... He did want to win this competition initially... And he had now won it... But that came with a question, at what cost did he win?! He was pretty sure Jungkook lost this fight willingly. He couldn't find the reason behind it thought... The last look from the alpha didn't seem to have that taunting or belittling undertone it usually did. The alpha's gaze had some type of regret buried in him. Somehow the omega wasn't happy about that either. It seemed so.... unsettling to him. He hated playing the game of guessing when it came to Jungkook.
Some part of him was feeling... a tiny bit weird...? He couldn't tell how was he exactly feeling about this. He thought his supposedly mate, alpha and husband was the strongest one here, which he was. He knew that Jungkook willingly lost but somehow it still managed to damage some part of his pride. He was the winner now but his 'alpha' wasn't the winner now and for some reason it was actually getting under his skin. Even though he hated it, he chose to do what he was best at. Pretending. He wanted to actually go for Leehan's throat because he was still mad but he knew better than doing that. " Oh my moon Goddess!! How ungrateful of you Tae!!! You should thank our precious guest Leehan for giving you a chance to choose a partner today. " He could only shoot a glare of 'not this right now' at Yoonji as she continued to shot ugly daggers at the guest omega who had just lost.
He needed to thank Jaehyun and congratulate him. Heck, the younger alpha deserved a good treat from him. He basically dragged the poor boy randomly into his already broken marriage. He did feel bad about it. " ...We need to talk. " Taehyung turned around to see Jungkook standing behind him, gently whispering to him as if they were in good terms once again. Maybe he was petty to think they weren't but it didn't matter anymore, to him at least. What were they supposed to talk about? Him whining about the alpha who didn't even acknowledge him as an important human, let alone as his mate. " No we don't. " He replied in a low tone while gritting his teeth in pure annoyance. He hated acting nonchalantly when he clearly isn't. The alpha just stared down at him. " I know you are not alright... We have to talk. " The alpha whispered out, trying once again.
" No. We don't. " The omega muttered out. This time while glaring at the alpha's eyes to put some weight on his words. He could feel Leehan's eyes all over them already. It for some reason just made his mood worse. He hated being here, he hated staying here, he just wanted to leave at this point. " We can talk- " " If I need to, I'll let you know. " Taehyung mumbled out before just.... leaving. He wondered if he was being over dramatic about the entire thing. He probably was but he didn't care at this point. As he was walking through the fair to get to his horse, he heard footsteps right behind him. Footsteps that were only made by those very familiar heavy leather boots. He sighed out and continued walking. Accepting the fact that Jungkook wasn't going to leave him alone any time soon.....
