( this is super short, I'm sorry)It was the last day of summer break. Me and wens were currently packing all our stuff into bags, well it was mostly my stuff, cause you know, wens isn't home. We had lucky convinced our parents to let me and Wens drive to Nevermore our self's, which meant we were leaving mine today to get to Nevermore in time.
"Do you want to bring this?" Wens asks me, holding up my red shirt that had a few hair color stains on it.
"Nah, leave it" I reply, closing one of my bags.
"Do you think we will make it in time?" She asks, folding some of my clothes and stacking them in a pile.
"Yeah, it's only a 3 hour drive and we don't start classes until Tuesday so I don't think it will be that big of a deal if we're a bit late" I say and she nods "when are lurch brining your stuff?" I ask.
"Monday" she replies shortly as she puts the pile of clothes down in one of my other bags.
We continued to pack our stuff and loading them into my car. When it was finally time to leave, I kissed my grandparents goodbye and hugged both my parents and said goodbye to my brothers , even Wednesday said goodbye to them. And they ofc hugged her as hard as possible, and William thanked her for the jacket again.
We buckled into the car and slowly drove away. The drive went smoothly, with the late summer sun lighting up the road ahead. I glanced over at Wednesday who started out the window, looking calm but thoughtful.
"How are you feeling about going back?" I ask, breaking the comfortable silence.
She takes a moment before answering. "I never thought I would admit this but I'm a bit... scared" she says.
"About what?" I ask, softly.
"What if I mess things up again? I don't want to be responsible for something terrible happening that's out of my control" she says, her voice cracking at the end.
"Nothing will happen, I promise you" I say, laying my hand on her thigh. "And last semester wasn't your fault, it was Tornhills fault"
She nods, placing her hand over mine.
We drove quietly for a while, the cars hum and the passing scenery creating a peaceful vibe. After about an hour, I suggested we stop for a break."Do you want to get some snacks or stretch our legs?" I asked, pulling into a rest area.
"Snacks would be good" Wednesday agreed, unbuckling her seatbelt.
We got out and walked to a vending machine. I grabbed a few snacks and drinks while Wednesday checked out our surroundings.
Back on the road we ate our snacks and listened to music. The time passed quickly, as we got closer to Nevermore, I felt excitement building up inside of me, mixed with a bit of nerves.
"Almost there" I said, glancing at Wednesday.
She nodded, her eyes ahead.
We finally arrived at Nevermore Academy as the sun began to set. The familiar gothic buildings loomed before us.
"Home sweet home" I said, pulling into a parking spot.
We got out of the car and started unloading our bags. The courtyard was bustling with students returning from their breaks. Despite the activity around us, a sense of calm settled over me. It felt good to be back.
