Laying in a field of flowers, Ari allowed her mind to wander like it usually does. It was getting close to a year now, marking it as both her third year of living in this place and her eighth birthday. That's kind of scary and sad when she thinks about it, it's been three whole years since her death in her past life and three whole years since she's essentially taken over this young girls body. There's all lot to unpack from this week too. The most important one being those vivid nightmares of seeing her home burning down into a crisp. The area around turning dark with the heat that emitted from the cottage, it terrified her because was it really just a dream? Or was this some part of her mind telling her of her insecurities? Her hidden intentions?
Or was this the real Aris' mind coming back to take over its rightful place? Either way, she wanted to put those thoughts far far away from her as possible. Hopefully this vapid dream will wither away and stop being a thorn in her side. She could quite literally use the sleep!
Suddenly the flowers and grass the raccoon was laying on didn't feel so soft and comfortable. Instead feeling like small little needles or hay pricking at her skin. It forces her to sit up, going even further by making her no longer want to stay and laze about in the field. She's not bothered by it however, standing up and making her exit through the same gates she entered in. 'It was getting late anyway. Ma woulda came and grabbed me by my scalp if I didn't go in myself.'
A mental image of the blue raccoon stomping her way over to Ari and yelling at her makes the girl chuckle. It's accompanied by the sound of a belt snapping in her mind which makes her recall another memory of her past life's childhood. A little girl throwing a tantrum or not doing as she's told quickly behaving when she— 'got a much earned ass whoopin. Thank the fucking gods or whatever supernatural cunts that made my current parents not violent- to kids at least- assholes.'
A freezing wind blew at her, ruffling her hair while doing so and making it's attempt to make her cold. It succeeds but it's not enough to make her feel it in the moment, it does annoy her though because she has to fix her hair and move it way from her eyes.
But a sanctuary appears in front of her after some steps, the home she thought about not even a hour ago. However there was a large, comforting contrast between real life and her mind. Instead of the cottage looking burnt, crispy or weak it was pretty, stable and intact. No flames or smoke rising out of the windows or holes in the roof made by a fire, it was a warm light probably created by a fire in the chimney or some candles, perhaps lanterns? Fear didn't fill her body this time, puppeteering her into running or crying. She felt comfortable and compelled to walk towards the place she calls home and enter it.
