The minute Cornelius was back in the cell, all patched up and silent, Ari scrambled to his side with a worried look.

"Fuck! You look like shit! Are you okay— no that's a stupid ass question of course you're not."

She rubs her temples in stress, backing up so that he'd have the space he deserves. It goes out the window when she sees the bloody tissue in his nose, her hands shooting out but stopping mid air to clench at nothing.

"What.. what happened?? I know we slacked off in training but.. just.. what the fuck happened??"

"I won my fight."

"No thats not what I meant, I mean.." Ari blinked, mouth gaping as she processed the words that she just heard from Cornelius.

"You— you.. what?"

The look Cornelius gives her looks dead, cold and emotionless. Not a trace of humor or cheekiness in his eyes, not even a smirk or smile. How could that happen?? It'd be hypocritical for Ari to say this, but he promised the raccoon that he wouldn't kill. Hell he was the one that was so dead set on making sure none of them broke that promise! Did he snap like she did?

"Cornelius.. please explain."

He nodded, " it was like any normal fight, I was the first to be attacked and if I'm honest I.. I genuinely thought of just losing the whole round."

Ari frowned, worry blurring her mind. Did he mean lose as in he lives or.. the other kind of lose? Has he had that thought before? Or did it just happen now?

"But before I did fully give in to death I was crossed with a thought, who would gain more satisfaction out of killing me? My opponent? Or the wretched thousands of people that sit in those seats and just watch?"

When the hart suddenly grabbed her shoulders Ari squeaked in surprise, wide eyed when his grip on her fuzzy shoulders tightened with each sentence he spoke.

"The very people that just watch as we die for their entertainment? Disgusting, hopeless horrible beings that don't deserve to see the face of tomorrow. I wouldn't let them get the satisfaction of seeing me die, so my opponent did. I won that match, and I'm going to win every other match I'm in as well. No matter what."

It was.. it was shocking to say the least. Sure Ari also empathizes with him, wanting nothing more than to beat the ever loving SHIT out of the people that watch and not help. But the way he was saying it gave off a twisted almost maniacal vibe.

Ari let out a quiet hiss at his hoof-like nails digging into her skin, feeling the way it left indents of his fingers on her flesh.

"Fucking shit! Cor stop, you're hurting me!"
