About three months passed where Ari was left alone. Occasionally taken for check up on her arm, in the infirmary there was people that used magic to heal people or kids faster. So she questioned why she didn't get that. Either they wanted to prioritize the best fighters, or they just didn't care enough to heal the raccoon.

Either way they didn't do it. Though to be fair Ari was fine with it, having at least a couple of months to heal and be alone was nice. She even got fed! granted it was only lunch and dinner and it was just bread with suspicious meat.. better than no food. During her 'vacation' she also got to properly know Cornelius, the male fawn telling her how he had a family of musically inclined hind's and stags. They all learned the same instrument, the lyre.

Cornelius was in the middle of learning how to play the eight stringed lyre when suddenly there was a hit on his family, he was escaping with his mother until he got separated by accident. And then the people that ran the operation snagged him.

he knows he can still play the lyre, but with how long it's been since he'd practiced it might as well be given up on. Ari thought so too, yet despite that thought when she saw the way he looked so disappointed in that fact she opted to give him comfort just like he did for her.

She told him to look up, and that maybe if they managed to get out of that place he'd still have that talent just like his family. And even though they both knew it was a lie, it created a joyful hoping moment. Lighting not only a friendship but a determination that whatever it took they would get out of that place, they would escape.

Back to the present time, Ari just got her 'cast' removed. She was free to flex and extend it, touching the spot where it was broken and feeling no pain. She was carried back to her cell shortly after, upon entering something felt off. Seeing only two kids, not including herself, in the cell. One of them was missing and it wasn't Cornelius.

"Hey where's the other kid? I don't see him here."

"Brilliant observation! would you like a treat for that?"

"tough shit for someone in punching distance."

"ugh, don't remind me. I lost my match and barely managed to make it out alive."

"I was gonna say, but what happened? to both you and the other guy."

"He's not.. coming back."

"oh fuck.."

Ari wasn't expecting to be welcomed back with something grim like that, foolish though since it should be expected as of now. Slowly, Ari took a seat by the hart. Both in complete silence to think about the fact that someone in the same cell as them-- their cellmate- has died. Either that or they survived, but that's not very likely. Sensing that the silence was being too dampening and getting heavy, Cornelius recounted his tale during his fight.
