Sunday has always been a simple day, I just sat at home opened, the bible and read Psalm 91. It’s my comfort bible verse especially with what happened yesterday. I go, and make breakfast. There’s still that Rotisserie chicken from Woolworths, I shred that up and make a Chicken and Mayo sandwich. I sit on the couch and watch a K-Drama. I sit there with my legs crossed, watching, I am not even concentrating. I should get some fresh air, I step outside and look out into the street. There they were, first time I have seen them on a Sunday. Oh no, they just dropping off Mandla. He steps out, the one with piercing eyes, and dabs up Mandla. I’m not sure if he looked up or not, but he stepped into the car and speeds off. I should’ve waved when I had the chance. Ntokozo walks in 30 minutes later. “Hey you, how was your night?” I ask trying to mask sadness.
“Magical” she says, as she describes the Sex she had with Simphiwe. All I could think about was that man and his presence. I mean 4 guys and they all ran away, worst part is that they were definitely scared, and all he said was ‘Ekse’(Yo).
“Hello. Hellooo. You alright?” she asks.
“Yeah, this may sound crazy, but you know that guy Mandla from upstairs. Do you know what’s his friends name?” I ask.
“Which one?” she asks.
“The one who was wearing Pink yesterday, because I think they call him Don or something like that” I say.
“Oh yeah, Mandla said they call him Don. I once heard that too” she says, “Let me go take a shower”. She walks off, I can’t tell her about yesterday or else she’ll freak out and blame herself. Which is the last thing I ever want. Noma let this be a lesson, NEVER, GO OUT EVER, STAY HOME IT’S NICE IN THE HOUSE. YOU HAVE SNACKS AND K-DRAMA DAWG.
I am sitting on my bed, and I get a call from Stephen. “Hello”
“Noma you beautiful thing of art, this piece, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. It goes great with the theme. I know this maybe a bit too much, because I know you like to stay anonymous, but it would mean everything to me if you just came and give a little something to the crowd. PWEEAASSSE” he says.
“I don’t know Stephen, you know I like to stay anonymous” I say.
“I promise if you come, I will give you 100% of the Commission on this Piece” he says.
“100%?” I ask.
“ABSOLUTELY” He jolts.
“OK but this one time alright” I say.
“I fucking Love you Noma, you are a fucking star” he kisses me through the phone.
“Love you too Stephen, bye” I hang up. Well that just made my fucking day. I usually read the bible when I am feeling down, but I always remember what my dad would say to me, ‘You Remember him when things are tough, ingane yam(My Child) remember him when things are good as well’. Isaiah 62:5, that’s where the bible landed me today. What does it mean? I mean I know I understand what it says, but how does this relate to me.
