I can’t believe it’s been a Year since his eyes pierced me, and I fell in love. I didn’t even know him and I still fell in love with him. Unfortunately, we can’t celebrate our anniversary together because, I’m in Johannesburg helping with Lindy’s Memulo, it’s her big day and she looks so pretty. UHG, I wish I looked like this during mine. I look out the window and there’s already a crowds of people, outside. She wasn’t really up to this thing of having her boobs exposed for so long until today, hey it nearly caused fights with our Aunt, Malume Thembinkosi’s wife.
Construction in Qumbu has started and eventually, I will tell my mother, what they are doing. Kea has been travelling back and forth with his brothers to look over construction. I have the G Wagon, parked outside to help direct people who haven’t been here, but I borrowed it to Mazwi, because I’m helping Lindy. If Kea finds out Mazwi and his friend are the ones doing the directing, hai I fear for my life. LOL.
I look out the window, there they come, wearing FINELY if I do say so myself. Mandla, wearing Jeans and a jacket with a gold chain, Thapelo wearing a Suede jacket and Chino’s with a gold chain, then we have Lethabo, hai guys mara Lethabo wearing a floral shirt, green slacks, black loafers, Cartier glasses and a Gold Chain with diamonds lining it, cigarette in his mouth, he’s become somewhat of a chain smoker in recent days, then of course there is the Don. I know he doesn’t like it when I call him Don, but eish today he looks like a Don, seriously, he looks like someone who gives orders, Navy Blue suit, Brown Polo Neck, Gold Chain.
They are walking to through, my father and his brothers are walking towards them, my father sticks the Spear in the ground. Kea and his brothers look at him, “I don’t remember inviting disrespectful little boys in my house”
“He said we are Disrespectful?” asks Lethabo looking at Kea, as the insult is directed to him. “Little Boys?” says Mandla and Thapelo almost insulted.
“Ke lwele le da man”(I fought this dude) says Kea back to his brothers.
“Get out” says Noma’s father.“Mkhathini, we came here with open arms, but the words you speak are hurtful” says Kea. “Hurtful? Didn’t you hear me, I said get out” says Noma’s father.
“Kea maybe, re senya setso sabona retla mo”(Kea maybe we are disrespecting their customs by being here) says Thapelo in Kea’s ear.
“Byang?” asks Kea, looking back.
“Ara romela ba bagolo”(We didn’t send our elders) says Thapelo.
“No, da man okwatile because keng meile fatse”(No this man is angry because I put him in the ground) he says.
They all drop their heads, “Eh, Mkhathini,” starts Thapelo, “Rekgopela kgobolela kang ntlong”(Can we please speak to you in Private).
“Ja retlo kgo bolela le wena”(Yes we want to talk to you) says Mandla snidely.
“Hai man” smacks Thapelo.
Noma’s father lifts his spear.
“Werang?”(What are you doing) asks Kea.
“Otlo kgopela tswarelo, the day maybe nyaka kgontsa mahadi o nagana batlo amogela”(You are gonna ask for forgiveness, they day maybe you want to Lobola do you think they will welcome you) says Thapelo and the 4 walk into the house.
They sit on the couch looking at one another, “Mkhathini, ke kgopela tswarelo for matshila keya ereleng ko lefong la tata kgo, ka tshegofatso ya goa, nne rekgopela kgoba mo, re keteke le lena”(I would like to apologies, for the nonsense, I did at your fathers funeral. With your blessing, I was asking if you could let us stay and celebrate with you all) says Kea sincerely, head down and all.
The room is quiet, for a minute, and Noma’s father looks at Thembinkosi, he gives him the gesture, ‘it’s your house’.
He nods, “Wamukelekile”(You are welcome) he says and Kea and his brothers walk out.We are walking out, Lindy wearing her Zulu Attire, there are some girls singing behind us, “Please don’t let Aunty make me put that spear near any of my Ex’s family” she says.
“What are they even doing here?” I ask.
“I invited him while we were dating, I think he thought he was still invited” she says.
We are walking closer, and Lindy starts off at our father, then our Aunt points in the direction of her ex’s family which she drops the spear reluctantly and walks back. The elder of the family, walks up and he drops off R500, then comes that boys brother, from the club who Kea and his brothers beat up. He walks up and kneels and takes out 2 rolls of cash, and uses the elastic to pin it to her hat, then his younger brother walks up, and does the same, not before saying, “You look beautiful” then walks away. Then more of that boy’s family come and pin money on her hat.
Apparently they own Taxi’s in that family. She then goes to Kea and his brothers and plants the spear at Lethabo’s feet, then she looks up at him, but no one notices. Lethabo is definitely in love with my little sister, he even has this dumbstruck look on him. She walks back, and sits down, the singing continues. Lethabo stands up, and walks forward, almost shyly. Since when is he so shy. Hebanna you see what women do to men, look at him, he’s so humble a few minutes ago he had the Pride of a Lion now he’s so timid. He walks up and pins a R100, and I can see her ex’s family is busy gossiping amongst themselves, Lethabo looks at them and they smirk at him and that boy gently laughs. Lethabo looks at his brothers, Kea, Mandla and Thapelo smile. He has his fingers up and points to us, “Erang da so majita”(Do the most boys) he says and steps away with a pep in his step.
“Siyabonga Mthimkhulu!” says Mandla, this is gonna be interesting.
