July 21st has become one of the best days in this family. The day we introduce life, into this world. We are at the hospital and these boys know how to do it big, they got the best OB/GYN in Gauteng to come and deliver the baby. Lindy is here with us and she still doesn’t look like she knows what her role in this family is, even after I told her to just be herself. This is her third year at Wits, but I told her to not get distracted because we gonna need Lawyers, I mean Imani is already their Lawyer, but still 2 is better than 1.
Yeah at 25, they already Lawyer, they pay a retainer. They booked an entire floor for the baby’s birth. She started getting her contractions while she was work, they called an Ambulance which brought her to a Hospital in Arcadia then had her flown by Helicopter to Net Care here in Sandton. Kea is busy walking around, up and down, he’s stressing. He’s not the only one, Lethabo and Mandla are busing moving in circles.
Mandla has it just as bad because, Thobile is pregnant again. I don’t understand, why she went back to him, if I’m being honest, mara hai. I’m not judging… fuck that I’M JUDGING, You would too. I mean, Kea and his brothers already disciplined him, OK cool. That doesn’t mean he changed.
“How long do these things fucking take?” Kea bursts.
Haibo, “No serious, his head can’t be that big can it?” asks Lethabo.
“It’s a very delicate process, we could be here the whole night” I say. They continue walking in circles.Lindy scoots next to me, “Are they always like this?”
“No, they just nervous” I say. They continue to walk in circles, not gonna lie, I’m also nervous. I mean it was only 3 weeks ago they went to her family in Rustenburg to pay damages, now imagine they come and say their daughter has passed, hai man let me not think like that. She’s fine, she’s fine. It’s already 11pm and we are still waiting, Kea comes back holding a cup of coffee. We look at the wall opposite, “You know, all these baby’s coming are ours just as much as it is theirs” he says.
“Yeah, I know” I say, these boys… no these Men are tied deeper than friendship. I mean when they were about 20 they dropped their original clan names, How? I don’t know. But, to sever all ties to their former families, they chose Kolobe as their new clan name, which in my language translates to Ingulube, in Xhosa it’s Ihagu. If you haven’t figure out the translations it means Boar, or Pig. When I heard the reasoning I was so confused, but I understood.I didn’t know that Boars are very smart and that they are very clean too, apparently they clean themselves often, once they are dirty they clean themselves. Now that I think about it, the boys are actually like that, Kea takes about 2 showers somedays, and all 4 are extremely smart when they want to be, it’s just that when they together it’s as if they share a Brain cell. My head is on his lap, “Our family’s growing” he says.
“It is” I say looking up at him. The money has started flowing much quicker than what I expected, Thapelo’s Taxi’s have grown, there’s 14 now, he even has Iveco’s as well. Kea’s has 3 Crowns Hotels now, about 5 Furniture stores in different provinces, Lethabo’s chisanyamas have franchised there 4 in The Tshwane Metroplitan, and another in the city of Johannesburg that’s right next door to Motion Braamfontein, and Mandla has grown his Dry cleaners there’s about 5 in Gauteng. Then they also started their Trucking company, and an official LLC to put everything under, they call it, ‘Boar Industries’. Nice ring to it, when you think about it. Unfortunately, No, they aren’t out of the Game just yet, but these legit business are helping them a lot. It’s almost like we are in a Novel, when you think about it, they are so young and they have so much. LOL. It’s all thanks to the Grace of the most-high, Baba wethu oseZulweni. As Kea would say, in Sepedi, Rago leboga Morena. It’s 12 and we are still sitting outside. BOOM! The doors smack open. We all look quickly, Thapelo walks out wearing a medical gown and hairnet. He has tears welling up, he stands there and we all rush to him, eyes wide open.
