It’s Friday and I’m fucking tired of this place, don’t get me wrong, I love the countryside. The clean air, night skies, this is how I wish to live like in my old age. There’s this one Aunt neh. OHHHH I just wanna strangle her, Aowa, someone tell my aunt just because, she has to sit on the mattress that doesn’t mean she can be ordering people for her personal errands like for fuck sakes, text your husband that you are calling him.

It’s night time and today was really the busiest day, but we are chilling and hanging out in the small house all of us, Lindy, Noma, me, Mazwi, Langa; oMalume Sphamandla’s son, Sthembiso; Noma’s older brother, and my favorite Aunt, Zandile she’s the youngest of my father’s siblings. We are sitting, chatting and making a noise, I get a text from my mother calling me.
I walk out and walk into the main house, “Mama” I say.
“Uphi uyihlo?”(Where’s your father)
“UneMalume Sphamandla, no baba ka’Noma”(He’s with uncle Sphamandla and Noma’s father)
“Ngicela ubaphekele ngoba ngiyazi abakadli”(Please dish for them, because I know they haven’t eaten) she says, I nod, “Are you done baking?”.
I shake my head, “No, we still going, we should be done before midnight” I say and walk out to the small house and call Noma, to come help me. We dish up for them, as they seated around a fire, we walk to them and hand them the food and walk back, “Eish they really taking it hard” I say.
“Eish, I mean now they are orphans when you think about it” she says, to be honest, that really hurts, because I know last week my dad was talking to his dad, now he won’t be able to hear his voice again.

We walk into the house and my phone vibrates, hai it must be Noma’s mother. What does she want now?
I open my phone, it’s Kea, “Waisti o motse jwang ka doek yeo, okare u’ngwetsi ya manete”(You look so beautiful with that doek, you almost look like a proper Bride) he texts.
He knows, I don’t understand Pedi so what is he texting in Sepedi, “What?” I text back with smiling emoji’s.
“Doek ya gau, the black and white one” he text. I turn my camera on, and look at my head wrap. There’s no way? “Come outside” he texts.
Immediately I stand up, “Ngiyabuya”(I’m coming back) I say, walking out.
“Uyaphi?”(Where are you going) asks Lindy.
“Ngiyabuya” I reply almost running to the gate. He stands at the front of the Gate, hands in his pocket wearing all Black, slacks, polo neck and Oxfords, INDODA YAM.
I jump into his arms and we fall to the ground, we tumble down the hill and lay down, laughing, “What are you doing here?” I ask on top of him, “What about Motion and The Crown”
“I solved it all, we hired a Safety Inspector to certify us, we open in 2 weeks” he says.
I kiss him, “Indoda yam” I say.
“Mogatsaka” he says and I smile, we look at the sky and he is in awe and scoffs, “You were right, it’s beautiful here”
We stand up and walk to his car, “So were you sleeping?” I ask.
“In the car” he says.
“Nonsense, sleep in the house, I’m sure we can make you a plan” I say.
“No, I must respect your family, I cannot step into your home without sending any elders, then it’s like you are sneaking me in” he says.
I don’t think that’s how it works, “So you just gonna sleep in the car?” I ask.
“I have done it before” he says smiling.
I kiss his cheek, I can’t believe he’s here, “Is this what you meant by you’ll make it up to me?”
“Yes” he replies, I kiss his cheeks again and almost sucking on it.
“You hungry?”
“Yeah” he says.
“Wait here” I hop out the car, and dash to the small house and start dishing.
“Who you dishing for?” asks Noma. I don’t even, answer, my man is here, to Hell with these people.
“Where is she going?” asks Langa as I leave the house. I get to the car and he opens for me, I step in and hand him his food; Beef stew with Rice and salads. He starts eating and I’m dotting on this man, smiles all the way, ear to ear. I switch off the light quickly, before Lindy and the others notice where I am. I don’t want them hounding him with question, plus I forgot to tell him about Lindy’s Umemulo.
He’s still eating, “How are you doing that?”, I mean who eats in the dark.
“Ah boy we grew up with no power, we know these things” he says chuckling and I laugh, we sit as I continue to dot on him. He just looks at me, he leans in, he kisses me, then kisses my neck, hand on my thigh moving up. I know what he wants, and I want the same thing, but we are in a car and at my Grandfather’s funeral, “Come”, he starts moving to the backseat. I laugh, he can’t be serious? He holds his hands out. I mean you only live once, plus it’s been 4 days without his touch. I move to the back, he unbuckles his belt and unzips his pants.
