Roach always gets some days off for the holidays. He never really does anything special so this year he decided to invite you over for Christmas. You happily agreed. You two have been close friends for a few years and it would be nice to not spend the holidays alone or working.
"Thanks for inviting me Gary" you smile warmly at him handing him a gift. He nods happily giving you a small hug and leading you inside his cozy house. Roach was never a man of many words. You never really bothered to ask why he didn't speak much or at all but you found it comforting. It was nice to not have someone talking all the same and the silence with him was always comfortable.
You two sit down on the couch huddling up near the fireplace. he offers you a cup of tea which you accept.
"so how's work been treating you?" you really didn't expect him to say much. Maybe just a small shrug or an 'ok'.
"It's been a little stressing... but everything is good," he says quietly
you perk up and can't help but smile by hearing him speak.
"oh yeah? Met anyone new? Anyone you've gotten close with?" you ask genuinely interested hoping you could hear more of him speak.
"yeah...a man named Ghost he's..he's nice," he says with a warm smile
You playfully nudge "Oooo ~ Gary met a boy~" you teased.
The night was filled with small chuckles and talking. You felt happy to know your friend is opening up more and speaking. You learned there was more to him than a man who just gestures.
