Nie Jiuluo shared the same thought.

If the Di Xiao could turn people into minions anytime and anywhere, the world would have been overrun with minions after Lin Xirou's twenty-plus years of painstaking efforts. However, the reality was that Lin Xirou couldn't even control Yan Tuo, which indicated that turning people into minions wasn't that simple.

She softly said, "But in this case, Lu Xian would be in danger, wouldn't he?"

Yan Tuo, alarmed, instinctively pulled out his phone.

Nie Jiuluo stopped him, "Don't. It's not like you can just tell him to run and he'll be able to."

Because one; he's already entered the farm, likely with people watching him closely.

Two; even if you told him the truth, would he believe it?

And three; even if he somehow managed to escape, he wouldn't get far before being caught again.

She had a sudden idea, "How about telling him to say he has asthenozoospermia or impotence to Lin Xirou?"

Yan Tuo couldn't help but laugh, "He's had three girlfriends before. Besides, wouldn't Aunt Lin have checked him out before choosing him?"

Nie Jiuluo suggested, "An anonymous call to report the farm for illegal detention?"

Yan Tuo sighed, "That farm isn't just a major taxpayer in that village but in the entire county. They have connections everywhere. Do you think if you report it, they wouldn't be notified immediately?"

Nie Jiuluo couldn't think of a better solution for a moment, "You don't plan to turn back and save him, do you?"

Yan Tuo smiled wryly, "You're overestimating me. Without a feasible plan, going back to save him would only mean dying with him."

After sitting silently for a while, he opened the car door to throw out the trash.

Nie Jiuluo also felt somewhat lost. She watched him through the car window as he walked to the trash bin at the corner of the street, forcefully pushing the trash bag inside. She saw the advertisement board for the Longmen Grottoes at the corner, with the solemn and compassionate look of the Buddha on it, and the increasingly serene blue sky beyond the board.

This is why she always wanted to be an ordinary person; to enjoy ordinary troubles.

Because of Lu Xian's situation, the afternoon drive was much more stifling than the morning. Nie Jiuluo even took a nap. When Yan Tuo woke her up, she was disoriented for a while and only saw the distant, oily red sunset descending, dyeing half the sky.

Yan Tuo said, "We've arrived at the hotel."

"Oh," Nie Jiuluo responded drowsily, getting out of the car with the takeout she ordered at noon.

Yan Tuo chose a five-star hotel with a family suite, so they could stay together but have separate bedrooms, making it easier to look after each other while avoiding many inconveniences.

After settling Nie Jiuluo, Yan Tuo had to visit the business partner. Though he called it a visit, it coincided with the partner's company event, so he probably wouldn't be back anytime soon. Yan Tuo left his dedicated phone with Nie Jiuluo, asking her to keep an eye on Lu Xian's situation.

Before leaving, he asked Nie Jiuluo, "Anything else? Say it now so I can help you handle it. Once I leave, it's all up to you."

Nie Jiuluo, now armed with a four-legged cane and feeling confident, thought for a moment and said, "Just don't drink too much. If you come back drunk and start acting crazy, I can't handle you."
