CASSIE ENTERED THE Great Hall and was immediately greeted by Malfoy making a fool of himself.

He was doing impressions of Harry's dementor attack and, feeling bad for the boy, Cassie approached them.

"New third-year course schedules," said George, passing them, over. "What's up with you, Harry?" Cassie wrapped her arms around Harry's shoulders, resting her head atop his.

Cassie treated him, Ron, and Hermione as her younger siblings, but especially Harry. She could never explain it, but she always felt the need to protect him and he felt the same for her.

"Malfoy," said Ron. Cassie ruffled his hair as he passed and he sat down at George's other side, glaring over at the Slytherin table. Harry gazed up at her as she smiled down at him.

"Isn't he always a git? Who is surprised at this point?" She sighed, staring down at Harry's course schedule. George looked up in time to see Malfoy pretending to faint with terror again.

"That little git, I wasn't too happy myself," said George. "They're horrible things, those dementors...."

"Sort of freeze your insides, don't they?" said Fred. Cassie nodded in response.

"Terrifying those things are, I almost passed out myself, Harry." She smiled at him and squeezed his shoulder before approaching the twins. "Compare schedules?"

"Isn't it tradition?" Fred remarked, pulling out his schedule. The three studied their schedules, happy to see they had most classes together.

"We got lucky this year", George smiled at her, "Go eat breakfast before you starve, Cass."

"Sending me away that fast?" She remarked before turning to walk away, she saw him roll his eyes and return to his food. Before leaving the table, she waved at Angelina and Alicia before going to sit next to Cedric.

"You're happy today?" He remarked as he grabbed a piece of toast.

"My schedule is good this year, not like last year.." She trailed off, shaking her head. "And I've got class with my dad today, so." She shrugged and had a small smile on her face.

"Oh right, I'm with you for that?" She nodded in response. "Wicked. Do you know what he's going to do?"

"No idea. Hope it's good." She shrugged as she sipped her tea. "Do you see those three over there," She pointed over at the three Gryffindor third years, who looked devastated at the table across from them. "They have Trewlaney..."

"Prayers to them, the best decision we ever made was to drop that class." Cedric sighed, rubbing his eyes. The two continued to eat their breakfast in little silence, mostly reminiscing about the awful haircut that Cassie had that year.

Cassie ran up to the twins in the hallway, practically jumping on them. She laughed as Fred practically jumped in surprise, but George knew it was her and just shook his head.

"So, how much work do you two have." She smirked, walking in between the two of them. Cedric had prefect duties and she had no idea where Lee had gone.

"Oh shove off," Fred said, lightly shoving her shoulder.

"Like you're actually going to do it?" she scoffed.

"For the record, Cass, we are very academic," George said, smiling at her.

"Oh yes, and you two are known for that I assume?" She giggled as they attempted to assure her of their academic successes and followed them to the Gryffindor common room.

The Fat Lady, who Cassie felt bad that she had that name, had gotten used to her sneaking into the common room and had given up trying to keep her out. She knew that one way or another, the girl would find a way in.

Especially being friends with the twins, the portrait didn't want to know the consequences if the girl couldn't enter.

Cassie found their usual spot and plopped down on the couch, Fred sitting at her feet, and George sitting next to her. The three pulled out their homework, despite their reluctance to do it. They figured if they at least started it, then they would have more determination to finish it.

Eventually, Ron, Hermione, and Harry burst into the room. Hermione looked worried, but Ron and Harry had odd looks on their faces. They appeared shocked, but Cassie could tell they were slightly amused.

"What's wrong with you three?" Fred commented.

"Yeah, looks like you've seen a ghost." George finished, looking up from his work and Cassie snorted at the irony.

"Draco Malfoy just got attacked by a hippogriff." Ron started, quietly. Cassie's eyes widened in shock.

"You're joking." She said, trying not to laugh. She felt bad for him. No one deserves to be hurt in a lesson. But when it's Draco Malfoy, it's hard to feel bad.

The three tried to stifle their laughs but it became really hard to.

"It is not funny! He could have gotten seriously hurt, Hagrid could get in serious trouble." Hermione said, almost exasperated. Cassie agreed.

But come on, it's Draco Malfoy.

"I'm sure it will all be resolved in the morning, Hermione. Why don't you three start your homework and get ready for dinner." Cassie tried to diffuse the situation, patting the seat on her other side. Harry sat in it and rested his head against her shoulder, she placed her chin atop his head.

"I got to ride a hippogriff." He said quietly as if it was some small secret between the two of them.

"Wicked." She responded, smiling as he laughed at her words. "Now get to work! I want to see what dramatic show Malfoy puts on in the Great Hall." As dinner time approached, the group entered the hall.

Finally being reunited with Lee, Cassie filled him in on everything that had happened. As expected, he also laughed but quickly stopped once he heard the boy start speaking.

"Does it hurt terribly, Draco?" Pansy said, looking worriedly at the boy and Cassie rolled her eyes.

"It comes and goes. Still, I consider myself lucky. According to Madam Pomfrey, another minute or two  and I could've lost the arm." He pouted, dramatically. Cassie shook her head from where she was standing by the Gryffindor table.

"I knew it." She murmured and Lee nodded alongside her.

She walked back to the Hufflepuff table and said 'hello' to Cedric. "'Heard about the arm?" She asked him as she began to eat. He looked back at her, confusedly.

"Whose arm? What arm? " She looked back at him blankly, before perking up again.

"Wait, you don't know?" Cedric looked blankly at her and Cassie shook her head in response.
