𝘾𝘼𝙎𝙎𝙄𝙀 𝘼𝙑𝙊𝙄𝘿𝙀𝘿 𝙂𝙀𝙊𝙍𝙂𝙀 after that, or at least tried to avoid him. He was a very hard person to ignore; he was extremely tall, observant, persistent, and a member of most of her classes. She was quiet and not at all herself in his presence, stoic with her arms crossed and jaw clenched, or a blank expression.

Truthfully, Cassie wasn't upset that her date had been interrupted, and selfishly, a small part of her had been counting down till the end. However, an uncomfortable feeling settled in her stomach.

Why couldn't George trust her?

Why was he so insistent on 'saving' her, especially when he hadn't even asked her about the date beforehand? It simply left a sour taste in her mouth because, normally, they could tell each other everything and anything.

But now?

Cassie wasn't too sure.

As February moved to a close, the days grew progressively brighter, and the chill could only be attributed to the wind. Snowfall may have concluded, but the crisp, icy tips of grass were still ever present. Cassie was bundled in Lee's Gryffindor sweater when Roger sought her out.

"May I speak with you quickly? It'll only take a minute." He had taken her aside before entering the great hall for dinner. She swallowed, nervous about what he was about to say, but followed him to a nearby window for privacy.  Roger began, "I had a great time with you, but I believe this isn't exactly..." Cassie exhaled at his words,

"Yes, I'm sorry. It's-" He held a hand out to stop her.

"You don't need to. I understand." Cassie only looked at him, confused, because she did not understand. "Friends?" Roger asked, and Cassie smiled, laughing lightly.

"Of course. I didn't expect us to be anything less." She replied, and he chuckled in response. Watching him walk away, she watched another familiar figure enter the Great Hall. His eyes trailed after Roger before turning to Cassie, and she looked away before pushing past him to enter.

During meals, Cassie sat with Cedric as she normally did, still desperately trying to pry him on his date. "So, you aren't going to tell me?" She pouted at him in mock upset.

"I don't want to jinx it. It's going well so far," Cedric replied, his ears turning slightly pink.

"Well, I'm immensely happy for you. I am, " She assured him, squeezing his arm, and he beamed in response.

"And are you not going to speak of the ginger twin, who is normally attached at your hip, and is now desperately staring in your direction?" He raised an eyebrow at her, and Cassie fought everything in herself not to whip her head towards the Gryffindor table at an instant.

"I don't know what you're referring to." She whispered, pushing the food around her plate.

"So I take it he did not ask you to Hogsmead." Cedric queried, eyes watching her movement.
