Draco's POV

Harry has always had a gift of never allowing his enemies to know his next move or what he's feeling. Daisy on the other hand is like an open book. She's flushing furiously as she tries to get her feet out of my bookbag straps. I can't help but grin at her. She's stumbling over her words, and I don't even know what she is saying until I see her reach for the door to leave.

"It's ok. Stay." I say still smiling at her. She turns back around tucking a stand of her hair behind her ear while looking at her feet. She slowly makes me her way to the other bench and gingerly sits down.

"Thank you." she says blushing. She's beautiful. It's the type of beautiful that would be able to start a war. It hits you in the gut as soon as you see even a glimpse of her. Those deep green eyes filled with shyness. They're completely different than when she was trying to shove me back into the car a month ago. I know she can feel my eyes on her because her eye's keep flying around the compartment. I grin to myself and look back into my sketch book. I was previously sketching my owl. Out of the corner of my eye I see her body start to relax. She reaches into her own book bag and pulls outs some sort of novel. She tucks her long legs underneath herself and gets lost in her book.

No longer than five minutes pass before she falls asleep. I carefully turn to the next blank page in my book. By the time we reach Hogwarts, I have completed the rough outlines of her in my sketch and need to go back and do the shading. I close my book and slide it into my bag before reaching across and gently shaking her awake.

"Daisy, we're here." I say as her eyes fly open. I wish I had colored quills with me. I could get lost in her eyes for days. I clear my throat and stand offering her my hand to help her up. She takes it. Her small, feminine hand looks so wrong but right in my hand. The doors fling open.

"There you are!" Harry exclaims to his sister. "I've been looking for you. You need to come with me since you'll need to be sorted. Thank for keeping her company." he nods at me for the last part. I shoot him a small nod and watch as Daisy gathers her bag.

"Thank you." Daisy says looking into my eyes. Once again, I'm so stunned by her that all I can do is look away and nod.

I make my way into the castle, heading straight for the dungeons. As I open the portrait and step into the common room it goes dead silent. All the Slytherins stare at me. Blaise and Pansy are in a corner on their own. They, like me, weren't punished by the ministry for their parents' actions.

"Welcome back." a 6th year says to me with a sheepish smile on his face.

"Thanks." I grumble and turn towards my room. Luckily, I still get my own private room that my father had paid for. This year is going to be horribly awkward, but I need to finish my education. I set all my set down and change into my school uniform since it's required for the sorting ceremony. As I make my way out of the dorm and towards the dining hall again, I hear Pansy's voice,

"Hey wait up!" she shouts behind me. I keep walking. I hear her footsteps quicken and then feel her slide her arm through mine. I grab her hand and remove it from my arm. She looks pissed, "What the fuck Draco? First that bullshit at the end of last year, then you ignore me all summer, and now this?!" she asks increasing the volume as she goes. Her face slowly goes from anger to disbelief. "Don't tell me you actually think this school will believe you changed. You haven't Draco. Just because you put up with the mudbloods over summer doesn't mean shit." she says turning to face me and tries to stare me down. She opens her mouth to start again when she's interrupted.

"Hey Draco!" I hear Diasy yell. I turn towards the sound of her voice to see her jogging over in a plain gray skirt and white shirt. She smiles up at me. "I think I'm lost can you help me find the headmistresses office?" she asks. I nod my hand and walk away without looking at Pansy.

I don't say anything to her as I point in the direction we need to go to get to McGonagall's office. "Pansy is always insufferable but it's gotten worse after...everything." I says trying to explain what she just saw. She nods like she understands what I mean. It makes me wonder if she'd walk with me if she knew what I had done. Dread fills my stomach again. Before I can make an excuse to leave, she speaks up.

"You're so lucky to go to school here your whole life. It's absolutely breath taking. I feel like everything is enchanted." she says while looking around the walls and ceilings. "I don't know if I can ever leave!" she says.

I grin at her excitement and look down at her. She's smiling looking back up at me. Watching her neck stretch to look up at me makes me realize how much shorter she is. I turn and knock on the headmistress's door. If Harry would've seen us walking up here, he would've murdered me.

"Oh, heavens!" the headmistress exclaims. "I wasn't expecting you to be here already. Well, I wasn't expecting you at all Draco. Is everything OK?" she asks me with a look of concern.

"Uh, yes headmistress, I was just bringing Daisy up here to meet with you." I explain feeling myself blush a little.

"I had gotten lost." Daisy explains further causing an adorable flush to make its way on to her cheeks.

"Well, come, come. We don't want to be late to sorting the first years, they get antsy. Mr. Malfoy you can make your way back down to the dining hall I will just grab with sorting hat and get Miss Potter sorted before we head down." McGonagall says.

"It's Miss Perez actually." Daisy corrects, her cheeks flushing even darker. "I haven't changed my name."

"I see, my apologies." the headmistress says. "Go on Mr. Malfoy." the headmistress says shooing me back to the dining hall and taking Daisy up to her office.

As I walk into the dining hall, the Slytherin table goes silent and stares at me. They want to know my next move. Tonight is the only night we have to sit with our assigned houses. I walk towards the very end of the table and sit with my back facing the Ravenclaw table.

About 10 minutes pass before the dining hall doors fling open, allowing the headmistress to make her way through the room. She stands at the front of the room and lifts both hands to quiet everyone.

"We have a lot to cover students." she start her welcome speech. I tune out the rest of her speech until I hear the bench behind me get pulled out. I turn and see Daisy taking a seat at the furthest end of the table. Closest to the door. She's in Ravenclaw yet she's not making a move to talk with anyone in her year. My brows further in confusion as I turn my attention back to the ceremony.

As soon as the plates came out at the end of the sorting ceremony, I quickly scarfed my food down and ran out of the dining hall with some food stashed for later.
