"Who are you? Tell me now!" Reze demands with hase to her tone, indicating that she wasn't up to playing whatever game this man was proposing. She didn't take nicely to this blatant stalking and threatening. "I will be forced to take further measures if you don't comply!" She sternly threatened. However, the tall figure didn't look threatened- he still was poised and perturbed, like he was looking for something to explain himself. She didn't know what he could be waiting for, which added to the tension of the moment. The silence finally broke:
"Kishebe. I'm not here to hurt you." The ragged man reassures her, "But you have to trust me." Trust. The five letters made her wince. Why should she trust this man? What was there to trust? Actually, there was a whole lot she shouldn't trust– following them out into the woods for who knows how long– just to make threats of Makima? To take Denji away from her after they've already come this far? No, she wouldn't let this happen. Anger filled Reze's face and she reached for the cord that decorated her neck until he lifted his hands in the air telling her:"Wait!" Reze gives him a look of confusion as he reaches for a stick on the ground, he writes in the dirt:
Control Devil.
Time stops for Reze. A horsemen. Reze knew somewhat of the horsemen from her training- how dangerous the four were. She never knew that Makima was one of these fabled devils- knowing this Reze wondered if there ways even a point in running. She knew her opponent was nothing she could face now. If you had someone of Makima's power on your side you wouldn't want to disclose it. So, it made sense now- why her devil contract wasn't on her file and why the public service made it so hard to get your hands on anything about her. Russia didn't even have a file on Makima; just word of mouth.
There was no winning for Reze. Her life was like a web in which she was trapped. Once she thought she was out of the bad, it kept going and spinning; trapping her into worse and worse as time went on. All of her dreams had, once again, been ripped from her. It seemed like life only disappointed her. Her hope was unraveling in front of her, and she didn't know what direction to turn to get it back. With her hope gone, Reze had nothing to motivate her or look forward to. There is no getting away from her... Control Devil... How much did Makima already know? Who else did she send- or does Reze know if she sent this man for them? No, why would she– Why would she send a man to tattle on her plan... To make it more fun for her to destroy Reze and Denji? To instill them with false hope? Why didn't she just come herself? The more her mind ran; the more that nightmare made sense- it wasn't just a weird dream she was having due to stress. That was Makima trying to get in her head... You're no better than I... It still rang in her ears- it was a simple sentence that dug into Rezes brain and made it spin around in a spiral. She just couldn't make it leave her head. When Makima said this; Reze knew there was an ounce of truth to it. Reze was choosing to leave that life behind. That dream was no coincidence. It was real. This man- Kishebe- knew something. There were too many facts matching. The trust that Kishebe priorly asked for came honestly towards him- as Reze complied with his request:
"What should we do?" Silence fills the air when Reze asks the question, Kishebe begins to say something until a blur is seen out of the corner of Reze's eye. A woman pins her down and points a blade towards Kishebe.
"Don't you fucking try anything." The one-eyed woman demanded of him, her hair was blonde and her build was petite but muscular and tall. Her face was pretty but unsettling due to the bandage that covered her eye and whatever secrets it held. "And maybe this girl will get to live." She threats. Reze struggled under the woman's weight, but she was bigger than her; her grasp was tight and uncomfortable.
"Quanxi-" Kishebe begins before he's cut off-
"You're a stupid, stupid girl- do you know that? To think people weren't following you with a prize like that Chainsaw Devil? Haha!" The lean woman smirks, "It doesn't make a difference whether it was Makima or a regular person- they would've found you. I found you." She tells Reze matter-of-factly.
"Quanxi, why are you here?" Kishebe calmly asks,
"Be quiet!" She snaps, towards him. Reze wondered how the two knew each other- and if Kishebe had plotted this after all. "You probably wanted all of that bounty for yourself. But, I can't fault all of your plans. Pretending to love it to make it trust you was smart." Reze winced at this woman calling Denji "it", he was a person. Anger bubbled up. "To think that you were going to take this prize straight to Russia- alive at that. You would've made them that much richer. It just adds to your stupidity. You could've been rich."
"Where are your girls?" Kishebe finally asks Quanxi. Quanxi turns to say something, and Reze takes the opportunity to spit towards the blonde's face. "You- bitch!" The woman loosened her grasp a bit; allowing Reze to reach for her collar and pull the cord allowing her to transform into the Bomb Devil. Quanxi moves her sword with swiftness toward the Bomb Devil's leg, making a nasty gash on her thigh. The Bomb Devil smells its blood and lets out an angered cry, hurling its head towards Quanxi who quickly dodges her attack, throwing a small knife in the Bomb Devil's direction. It almost hits its neck- Quanxi doesn't look so solemn now. She looks upset, frantic even. She rolls away from the Bomb Devil as it lets another attack hurl towards her; it causes a crater in the ground... Through the earth shaking under the destruction of the bombs; another sound is heard- a sound of chainsaws- this piques Quanxi's interest, who flees and runs towards these sounds.
"Idiot, kid!" Kishebe grumbles, he turns towards the Bomb Devil. "Come on! Quick!" He instructed the devil, as he pursued Quanxi. The Bomb Devil follows suit. Denji... The devil thinks I've got to make it before she hurts him.
