Lies [Dazai x Akutagawa]

A heavy blast had occurred in a factory house in Yokohama. It wasn't a work of port mafia. Dazai and akutagawa were assigned to investigate the place.

"Haa..What a chaos" Dazai exclaimed.

Akutagawa just stood behind dazai, looking at the corpses on the floor. There were 33 corpses.

Dazai started looking closely at the corpses, trying to find clues.

But akutagawa was disturbed by something else. The smell.

The smell was oddly familiar. Not the smell of blood, but, something else.

"Drugs" akutagawa suddenly said in a low voice.

"What?" Dazai asked turning back, raising an eyebrow.

"Dazai san. Are these guys some drug dealers. Something illegal?" Akutagawa asked slowly.

Dazai got up from the corpse he was investigating and walked closer to akutagawa.

The smell. It's suffocating.

"Why do you say so?" Dazai asked with somewhat a amused look.

"The smell" akutagawa replied truthfully.

Dazai bent down to the body closer to akutagawa and inspected it closely. That's when he found a small bag of white powder in the man's pant back pocket.

"Ha.guess so." Dazai said, looking closely at the small bag.

Dazai then turned to look at akutagawa with an unreadable expression.

"But the important question here is akutagawa kun~" dazai began. "How are you so familiar with its smell. I don't think your lessons included these types of drugs. Mm." dazai asked, getting dangerously close to akutagawa.

Akutagawa shuddered. How should he answer that?

Dazai then walked more closer to him, his face just inches away from akutagawa's.

" I think I taught you better than to lie to me akutagawa kun~" dazai said with a threatening look.

Akutagawa turned to the side and bit his lips.

He then took a deep breath and looked at dazai again. He can't be weak.

"The ones who gave birth to me and gin were drug addicts. They often met different drug dealers to get these kinds of drugs ". Akutagawa said.

Dazai  stared at akutagawa for some time and then turned to look at the other bodies on the ground.

"Your parents huh?" Dazai started as if he was thinking about something deeply. "How were they?"

"I wouldn't call them parents. They were just idiots who couldn't be responsible for their acts. In the end, it was gin who suffered "

"Gin chan?" Dazai paused his actions for sometime and continued as if he was thinking about something " why do I feel like gin chan grew up rather healthy and..." dazai turned to akutagawa and looked at him head to toe.

Akutagawa understood what dazai was implying. He did posses a pitiable body afterall.

"There wasn't much to begin with and gin was just a baby, so naturally that was the best decision." Akutagawa said.

"why didn't you run away?" Dazai asked, turning back to the corpses and resuming his investigation.

"Running away means we need to go without food for days and gin can't do that. If I leave gin alone there, then she will be their next outlet for their abuse. So that was the only choice at that time". akutagawa said.
