They both turned toward the doorway to see Sayantika standing there, watching them. As soon as she appeared, Vedikaa withdrew her tiny hands and moved closer to her mother.

Sayantika gently cupped Vedikaa’s cheek, looking down at her with concern. “Why did you come here?”

“I was thirsty, Mumma,” Vedikaa replied. Sayantika nodded and glanced at Abhiansh out of the corner of her eye, noticing he was watching them intently.

“You go; I will bring water,” Sayantika instructed. Vedikaa nodded and cast one last glance at Abhiansh before heading off.

As Sayantika moved to the kitchen to fill a jar with water, Abhiansh couldn’t tear his gaze away from her. It had been five long years since he’d seen her, and he struggled to hide the emotions that surged within him.

Their eyes met briefly, but when Sayantika caught him staring, she quickly averted her gaze. She emerged from the kitchen, jar in hand, intending to head upstairs. Just then, Abhiansh’s voice broke the silence.

“Sayantika…”

She closed her eyes at the sound of his voice, a flicker of warmth igniting her heart. The wind rustled the curtains, and the impending storm echoed in the distance—a fitting metaphor for the turmoil brewing within them.

“Kaise ho?” he asked, but she remained turned away, a dry chuckle escaping her lips in response.

“Jo insan chorke jate hai unhe yeh sawal puchna nahi chahiye,” she said, her voice steady yet tinged with pain. Without another word, she left, hiding the tears that threatened to spill.

Abhiansh stood frozen, his heart heavy with unspoken words. He swallowed hard, the lump in his throat constricting as he wiped away a stray tear that fell down his cheek. Outside, rain began to pour, mirroring his sorrow as it drenched the earth.

---

Later, Abhiansh sat beside Vikram, his eyes fixed on the screen of Vikram's phone. They were examining a strange message from an unknown number.

“What do you think about this?” Abhiansh sighed, massaging his forehead as Vikram awaited his input.

“How come he knows that we’re here?” he asked, concern knitting his brows. Vikram closed his eyes, a look of dread crossing his face.

“I’m not getting anything, Abhiansh. First, they found out about Sayantika and Vedikaa, and now they know we’re investigating this case.”

Lost in thought, Abhiansh barely registered when someone entered the room. Esha walked in, and he raised an eyebrow, silently questioning her presence.

“I came to see what happened that you arrived here all of a sudden. Any problem?” she asked, her tone light but her eyes probing.

Abhiansh narrowed his eyes, feeling an unexpected unease at the thought of discussing sensitive matters with her. He pushed those thoughts aside and handed her the phone. Esha took it and gasped as she read the message.

“How come they got to know about us?” she asked, her shock evident.

Abhiansh met her gaze for a moment before shaking his head. “Don’t know.”

Rising from his seat, he positioned himself in front of her. “I’m going now, Mr. Rathore. I have some work,” he said pointedly, locking eyes with her.

Esha sighed as she watched him move away. She glanced back at the phone screen one last time before handing it to Vikram and leaving the room.

---

Alone in his own room, Abhiansh locked the door and grabbed his phone, dialing a number. The call connected on the first ring.

“Yes, sir.”

“I need all the information about Esha Gupta within thirty minutes, or be ready to say goodbye to your job.” He ended the call abruptly and tossed his phone onto the bed, sinking onto the mattress.

“Something isn’t right with her,” he muttered to himself, when suddenly the door opened, revealing Aradhya. But her usual bright smile was absent; her expression was filled with pain.

Abhiansh stood up, concern flooding through him as she entered and closed the door behind her. “What happened, Radha? Everything good?” he asked, but she only stared at him, her silence heavy with unspoken words.

Then, her question cut through the tension like a knife. “Kon hai Sayantika tumhare liye?”

His eyes widened in surprise. No one except Veer knew about Sayantika and him. How did she know?

“What are you talking about, Radha?” he asked, his voice steady but cautious.

“Don’t act like you don’t know her. S-She is the reason why you rejected me,” she said, her voice trembling. Abhiansh remembered how he had clarified his feelings to her: that Sayantika was like a sister to him and that he could never love her or anyone else.

When he remained silent, a dry chuckle escaped her lips, tears beginning to fall from her honey-brown eyes. “Why? Why can't you love me, Ansh? Why always her?” The last word echoed in the air, and Abhiansh clenched his eyes shut.

“Can’t you just give me a little space in your heart, Ansh?” she pleaded, her tears flowing freely now.

“My whole heart is hers, how can I give anyone else some space?” he replied softly, his voice heavy with sorrow. Hearing him, she wiped her tears angrily and stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind her.

Alone, she leaned against her own door, letting out a pained sigh. Whoever said that one-sided love is a curse was absolutely right; it hurt like hell.

---

Meanwhile, Sayantika made her way to her room with a plate of snacks, pausing when she heard a familiar voice behind her.

“Long time no see, crime partner.” She chuckled, recognizing Veer instantly. He stood there with his arms crossed, a grin on his face.

“Same to you, Mr. Dumbo,” she replied, amusement dancing in her eyes. Their playful banter had always been a source of comfort; she had affectionately nicknamed him “Dumbo” after a memorable incident where he failed to answer one of her questions.

“Wouldn’t you give me a hug, crime partner?” he asked, his expression warm. She smiled, embracing him tightly. They shared a bond that felt like family; even Abhiansh had been a bit envious of their camaraderie. But he knew it was just brotherly love—neither had siblings to fill that role.

After their hug, Veer looked her over critically. “You have changed a lot,” he remarked.

“Time changes; people change,” she replied, her tone laced with a hint of sadness.

Veer sighed, his brow furrowing as he hesitated. “Can you tell me about Vihaan?”
