Sayantika sat alone in her room, still wearing the same outfit. The blood from Abhiansh marked her hair partition, while the tears that had once streamed down her face were now dry remnants of her anguish. She cradled a photo of Vihaan in her hands, her thumb brushing gently against his image trapped within the glass frame. As she pulled the photo closer to her chest, the air filled with the sound of her painful, loud cries.
“S-sorry, sorry, Vihaan. I don’t know what to do now. H-how can I accept him? H-how can I accept anyone else as my husband? No one can take your place; no one.” She collapsed onto the bed, the photo frame pressed tightly against her heart as she sobbed.
“I-I a-am s-sorry,” she whispered repeatedly, consumed by memories of Vihaan. Though she might not have loved him as deeply as she thought, the idea of replacing him felt like a betrayal she couldn’t bear.
She wiped her tears and laid back on the bed, placing the photo frame on the side table. Her gaze turned to the ceiling as a fleeting thought of him brought a small smile to her lips.
Flashback
“Sayantika, Sayantika!” Vihaan called as he entered their room, his face lighting up when he saw her organizing his suitcase.
“Look what I got!” He approached her, extending a red box. She stared at it, confusion etching her features.
“Take it,” he insisted. Hesitantly, she accepted the box and opened it. Her eyes sparkled with delight when she discovered a pair of payals inside.
“Payal!thank you vi” she exclaimed, a cheeky grin spreading across her face. Vihaan’s heart raced at her reaction.
“What did you say?” he asked, taken aback.
She looked down, realizing what she had called him, and bit her lower lip. “I’m sorry if you don’t like that.”
“Like? I absolutely love it! Thank you, Sayantika.” Without another moment's hesitation, he lifted her into the air, causing her to squeal in surprise.
“Vihaan, put me down!” she giggled, her eyes sparkling.
“Oh, right!” He gently set her back on her feet. Without missing a beat, she wrapped her arms around him, and he hugged her back, both of them wishing the moment could last forever.
Flashback End
A smile flickered across Sayantika’s face at the memory. No doubt, Vihaan had brought color back into her life after Abhiansh had left. He had been her shield, always protecting her. But perhaps she wasn’t favored by fate; it seemed that every person she loved eventually left her.
A soft knock at the door pulled her from her reverie. She quickly wiped her tears and opened it to reveal Abhiansh’s concerned face. His expression was emotionless, but she could see the worry in his eyes.
