It was currently five in the morning, and I was woken up by my mom coming into my room, telling me that I needed to wake up because she was leaving. She wanted both Noah and I to tell her bye, so once I dragged myself out of bed, I walked downstairs.

When I saw Noah standing against the wall, he was half asleep as I stopped then noticed my mom talking to Ember. Once she saw me, she slightly smiled before motioning for me to approach her.

"Kris." She grabs my arms and looks at me. "I love you."

"I love you too." I yawned.

"Please behave. I don't want Ember to call me during my trip. I'll make sure to video chat you and Noah when I get to the hotel." She leans in and kisses my forehead, then turns her attention towards my brother.

We all helped her with her bags, and carried them to her car. It was surprisingly hot outside for five in the morning, and I was too tired to even function right now. I stood near her car as she was talking to Ember, then they hugged, and she turned her attention towards me.

"Please, Kris. Behave."

"Yes ma'am." I nodded. She hugged Noah then walked to me and hugged me, then said her goodbyes.

We all stood around, waving at her as she made sure she had everything before leaving the driveway. I watched as she drove onto the street then left, and her car soon disappeared down the road.

It definitely felt weird for her to be gone, but I can probably get a little bit more peace now.

"I'm going back to bed." I said as I walked inside. I heard Noah running, then he ran past me upstairs. I rolled my eyes before walking into my room, then shutting the door afterwards.

Once my body hit the bed, I sighed as I was soon fast asleep.

When I woke up, it was currently ten in the morning. I yawned as I rolled over, then got off the bed. I grabbed my phone before texting Danny, then walked to the bathroom. I brushed my teeth before using the bathroom, then I walked downstairs to the kitchen.

As soon as I stepped in, I smelt something delicious. I saw Ember standing at the stove, and when she noticed me, she smiled at me. I walked further in to see what she was making, then stopped near her.

"Are you hungry?" She asks, then she looks over at me.

"Yeah." I leaned over a little to look, then felt my stomach growl. "That looks good."

"It's just an omelet. But it has Mozzarella cheese, green peppers, and onions. I know you don't like tomato, so I didn't put any on." She smiles at me.

"Thanks. Can I make a plate?"

"Of course." She hands me a plate, then tosses the omelet on. I walked to the table to sit down. As soon as I did, I forgot a drink and my fork. I was about to stand up, but Ember walks over with a glass and a fork.

"Thanks." I watch as she walks back to the stove, then I started eating. I looked over at the glass, and noticed that it was chocolate milk, then I realized that I haven't had chocolate milk in years.

I remember when Ember would babysit me when I was younger, and she would always make a glass of chocolate milk for me. I would chug that milk like my life depended on it because it was so good.

Ember was always over here with my mom when I was younger. She would watch me sometimes when my mom would go to work or run errands.

She also babysat Noah, but when she was babysitting me, I was seven years old. Noah wasn't born yet.

As I was eating, Ember came over and sat down across from me at the table. I looked over at her as she sat her plate and glass down, then her eyes met mine. She smiled before taking a sip from her glass, then started cutting into her omelet.

"You know I haven't had chocolate milk in a minute." I said to her, then saw her look back up from her plate.

"Really?"

"I think the last time I had it was when you were babysitting me. Which is weird because when I was seven, it seemed as though you were close to my age."

Ember smiles at me. "We're thirteen years apart, Krissy."

When she said that, I stared at her before furrowing my eyebrows. "I haven't heard that name in years." I saw her smile before she looked back down at her plate. "I remember when you gave me that name."

"And I always called you that." She smiled as she looked back up at me. "You liked it."

"When I was seven."

"So, you don't want me calling you that now?" She said, and I shrugged.

"I mean, it sounds like a little kid's name. It was fine when I was younger. But I'm practically a grown up now. Even though my mom doesn't think that." I sigh as I finished my food.

"Why not?"

When I looked at her, she was watching me, but I shrugged as I avoided the conversation. I knew that Ember was my mom's best friend, and whatever I tell her, she'll most likely go tell my mom.

"I'm not going to say anything to Sierra." Ember said, and I looked back over at her. She smiled as she took a sip from her glass, and I leaned back in the chair.

"My mom treats me like a kid. She doesn't trust me, and it irritates me."

"Does she have a reason for not trusting you?"

"Yeah, because of Danny. She hates our relationship, for whatever reason."

"I'm sure she has a reason." Ember smiles.

"Whatever reason it is... is on her. She finds any excuse to hate or bash Danny for no reason." I shook my head as I looked over at the counter. I knew that talking about this to Ember was useless because she's an adult also, so she'll just agree with my mom.

"I'm sure she has a reason, Kris."

"Yeah, well, I have yet to figure it out."

"She's just looking out for you. You're her daughter."

"Why would she need to look after me?" I saw Ember smile at me.

"You don't think she's just looking out for you? I don't want to butt into you relationship with your mom, but she told me that she feels as though you spend more time with Danny than with her."

"And that's not true." I sighed. "Every time I try to spend time with her, it seems as though things are awkward between us." I shook my head. "I'm done talking about this." I stood up to put my plate in the sink, then turned towards Ember as I leaned against the counter. "Is it cool if I go hang out with Danny?"

Ember looks over at me before standing up as well. I saw her walk towards the sink to put her plate in, then she turns towards me. I was waiting for the lecture that I always receive from my mom, but Ember smiles before nodding.

"Your mom said as long as you don't stay out late."

"So, you don't mind?"

"Not at all." She spoke, and I couldn't help but smile.

"Thanks." I walk out of the kitchen, then ran upstairs to my room to get ready. I texted Danny to meet me outside, then when I rushed back downstairs, I met Ember in the hallway.

"Just be careful." She slightly smiles.

"Of course." I smiled at her before walking to the door, then when I turned to look at her, she was watching me as I closed the door behind me.
