Before skipping ahead to the chapter where you are to enter your forms for batch 1, please read the rules carefully. Any questions regarding the rules, please put as a comment next to the 'additional comment' section at the end of this chapter and I will try to answer in a timely fashion. I'll try to keep these rules as straight-forward as possible though.
1. I am not a pro. I'm very much an amateur writer myself even though I've been writing for roughly 2 decades now. If you do not agree with what comes out of the service you requested, you don't have to listen to it. These are merely going to be suggestions in an attempt to help you overcome a writing hurdle you're facing. As I stated in the disclaimer, I'm firmly of the belief that everyone has a story worth telling. Just as we are to love ourselves, I want you to be able to love your writing through using this shop. That is my main goal. So, if you ever feel like feedback you get from one of the services is too judgy, come talk to me and I will gladly talk it out with you.
2. I will try to get to your requests in as timely a fashion as possible, but things may be delayed. I please ask that you take into consideration that this is being done as a service to help and understand if a projected feedback window needs to be adjusted. I am balancing this after all between work, writing my stories, trying to prep for the Wattys, and vacations. I will communicate with you if feedback is going to be delayed.
3. This shop works on a first come/first served basis. Favoritism will not occur here. I will work from the first form in the batch on my way down the list. Reservations for future batches may be considered in the future, but not at this time.
4. Batches will be opened at random times but will be announced on my profile. Batches will normally have five slots. If you miss out on a slot in a batch, please be patient and wait for a second batch to open. Do not just comment on the current filled batch and expect it to roll over into the next batch. If it's full, additional forms will be ignored.
5. Here is a list of services that you can request. Please only request one service at a time. If you want more than one service, please re-apply in the next batch when it opens.
Services
- Writer's Block: If you feel like you are stuck in a prison of your own creation when it comes to your writing, this will be the service for you. This service will attempt to help your stuck story find a new way forward so that it can work towards completion.
- Character Development: Do your characters seem limp and soggy like a noodle? Do you feel like every character you write seems to have the same generic personality? Do you feel like your characters are all unlikeable? Then this is the service for you. Here I will be providing feedback on how to fix your characters to make them feel more lifelike and likeable. (If you request this service, please also include the name of the character I will be focusing on. I will only be focusing on one character, not a cast of them).
- Plot Hole City: If you're as lost with your plot as I am in a big city, then this is the service for you. This service is helpful for those who have lost hold of their plot and are consequently stuck because they can't remember where they left off or what information they have already conveyed to readers.
- Overall Feedback: Stressed that your story doesn't quite hit the mark? Worried that your story isn't even worth finishing and should be discarded? Then this is the service you're looking for. I will read the entire book that you have written so far and give you general feedback of what might be working and what might not be. Unless there are glaring grammar issues, that will not be addressed here. Please also take into consideration that this service is for ongoing stories only. This is not a review book. This is a shop for story help.
