District 4 was the last District to be reaped in Panem, so when Carolina got to her room on the train, she turned on the television to watch the reruns of each district.

District 12 was first. Katniss was the only female victor from her district, so it was inevitable that she would be going into the games. Of course, her little fiancé volunteered for Haymitch. No doubt to protect Katniss.

Carolina let her mind wander for a moment. She knew she was going to die, but if she was going to go out, she might as well get her revenge. It didn't matter if Katniss shot an arrow into her heart seconds later, nothing was going to stop her from killing Peeta Mellark the same way he killed Charlie.

District 8 was next. Carolina switched the channel when she saw Cecelia, the woman who survived the year before Fletch, get reaped. Carolina hardly knew her, but the image of the woman being ripped away from her three children would be ingrained in her mind forever.

The next reapings were from 6 and 11. It was no shock when Trip and Chaff's names were pulled. They were both one of two male victors in both of their districts.

District 3. Carolina recognized Wiress and Beetee from the mentor room, but she'd never had a long conversation with them. Carolina dismissed them, they were two of the smartest people she had ever met, but she didn't see either of them as a threat.

District 9. District 10. Carolina didn't know or care about either of the tributes.

District 7. Johanna was the only female victor from her district, so her name being reaped wasn't a shock at all. Johanna was a threat, but her entire act of being the weak tribute was the key to her win, and the girl no longer had that.

The screen changed from District 7 to District 1, and Carolina immediately stood up.

"No," Carolina muttered, shaking her head frantically.

District 1 had 11 victors. The most out of any district after 2. There were 6 men and 5 women on that stage, including Cashmere and Gloss. The odds should have been in their favor.

Carolina had braced herself for the possibility of one of them being reaped. Not both.

But there the siblings were, wearing their bright Capitol smiles and waving as if they were honored to be on that stage. Carolina nearly threw up at the sight.

She collapsed onto the bed and clasped her knees to her chest, letting tears stream down her face. Everything was going wrong.

The only thing that stopped her from shattering the television or, even worse, locating the alcohol on the train was Reef banging on her door and opening it before she could reply.

"Come to the TV room," Reef said, but Carolina kept her eyes on Cashmere and Gloss. Reef followed her gaze and sighed. "I'll give you a couple of minutes."

"No," Carolina said, fixing her face into a look of indifference and finally turning towards her mentor. "I'm fine, really."

Reef nodded hesitantly before walking out of the doorway. Carolina followed him closely as he led her through the dining car and into one with a living area. Finnick was already sitting on the couch there while Mags was standing in front of him, beside the television.

Carolina took a seat next to Finnick, fully aware of the distance between them. She didn't pay attention to it for long as Reef dropped a box filled with old tapes and a notebook onto the table before them.

"These are old recordings of every game with a living victor," Reef said. Carolina's eyes moved down to the 59 tapes. "I've written down the names of every victor in this notebook and starred the names of those who were reaped. I want you both to watch their games and come back to me tomorrow with a list of your opponent's strengths and weaknesses."
