Today was the day of the aptitude test. Aria was in her bathroom putting concealer on to cover the cuts and bruises her father had given her last night.
On the way back to her bedroom he had stopped her."You know what to do Aria. You better not disappoint me or your mother." he said with a cold stare.
That comment had made Aria's blood boil. She had missed her mother so much and he knew that. He would always purposely mention Aria's mother to upset her. Even though she wanted to say something back to him she decided to not pick a fight and just walk away, so that's what she did. She turned around went to her room to finish getting ready.
A couple minutes go by, she had finished getting dressed. Aria had took a moment to look around her bedroom. She knew that this was one of the last times she would ever be in the bedroom because once she chose a different faction she wouldn't be allowed back.
She had decided before she left that she was going to grab a bag and pack some stuff that she would later take with her and hide it under the floor board. She grabbed all the stuff under the floor board (her diary, moms necklace, photos of her friends and other little things that she loved) and put them in a small backpack and shoved it back in the the hidden compartment. She got up and started for the door.
As she walked on the road she couldn't help but notice everything and everyone around her. Since her mother's passing her father had tried to keep her inside as much as possible trying to avoid people asking Aria questions about her mother. So being out in the sun and breathing the fresh air felt amazing to her.
The little things you'd think wouldn't matter much had mattered a lot to her. How green the grass was, the blue sky, the little animals running around, even the people from amity being happy and peaceful with one another.
Once she finally arrived at the resting area she had gotten in the line for her faction: amity. She started to look around wondering where her friends were. Elena was also Amity born, while Jacob was Dauntless born. Since the train hadn't come yet she knew Jacob wasn't there, so she was mainly looking for Elena.
Aria had waited for about 10 minutes when she heard the train. The Dauntless borns all started running towards their line. Aria had always been fascinated by Dauntless. She had always wondered what it would be like to feel free and brave like them.
She had finally spotted Jacob as he was running towards her. He had also been looking for her while running out of the train.
"Hey Ara, you nervous??" He teased knowing she was a little anxious about the testing.
"No, i'm not Jake. Don't be an ass." she said sarcastically as she rolled her eyes.
"Oh come on, i'm only joking!" He said not wanting her to be mad at him. "Besides you have nothing to worry about. You'll be fine." He said sweetly.
"Yeah I know, it's just what if I get Amity. I wanna be my own person and get away from here." Jacob knew what Arias home life was like. He had told her many times that he would go over there and teach Ethan a lesson but she had told him no multiple times and he had respected her wishes.
"Trust me Ara, you'll get out of this. I'm here for you. Besides even if you do get Amity you could always choose another faction." He said trying to ease her mind.
"Yeah you're right" she said.
"I always am." He smirked.
"Ugh you're annoying." She rolled her eyes.
"You know you love me." He smiled at her. She had loved her friends dearly. They were the only family she had.
"Anyway gotta run! Good luck!" He yelled as he ran back to the Dauntless line.
The lines started to move, and it was now time. She had took a deep breath and walked towards the door wondering what faction she'd get.
Was she intelligent? Brave? Peaceful? Honest? Selfless? Or was she all of them??? 😉
