As Aria walked into the testing room she noticed a lady from dauntless getting the test ready. She had also noticed the mirrors all over the walls. Aria had looked at her reflection but then quickly looked at Tori.

"Aren't you Amity born?" She laughed.
"Yeah?" Aria said confused. "You just.. Never mind. Sit."

Aria sat down in the chair shaking a bit. "I'm Tori, I'll be administering your test. You'll be offered a series of choices to test your aptitude for each faction until you get one result. 95% get the faction they're from." She handed her a small glass of blue liquid.

"What is it?" Aria asked her.

"Bottoms up." Tori said as she motioned for her to drink it. Aria did what she was told and downed it. She then started to feel her eyes slowly close.

When her eyes opened again she was alone. Tori was gone and the room was filled with mirrors.

All of a sudden Aria heard a voice behind her, "choose" it said. "What?" she questioned.

"Choose" the voice repeated as two things appeared infront of her. A piece of meat and a knife. She didn't know which to choose knowing that both could help her in different situations.

"Why? What will I have to do?" She asked, but got no reply. When she looked back the meat and the knife were gone. Then a dog appeared. The dog started to growl and slowly approach her. She then got on her hands and knees trying to be less of a threat to the dog, knowing it'd feel less threatened.

The dog then turned into a puppy. Aria had finally realized that she was in the simulation and that nothing could actually hurt her so she felt more relaxed.

A couple seconds later, a little girl appeared and yelled: "Puppy!". The puppy then turned back into the dog and started to growl at the girl. She got startled by it and started to back up. The dog started to run towards her causing her to run away. Aria got up and quickly ran after the dog. She ran as fast as she could, tackled the dog and held him down so he wouldn't hurt the little girl.

Aria had woken up. She looked at Tori who was freaking out while untying her from the chair. Tori then grabbed her arm, "get up, we're going out the back door before a supervisor comes." Aria got up while looking at her with a confused look. She had no idea why Tori was acting this way. Tori grabbed Arias arms making Aria look at her, "You are going to tell your family that the serum made you sick and I sent you home, okay?"

"Okay, but wait what was my result?" She asked.
"Abnegation." Aria looked at Tori. Was she freaking out over her getting Abnegation? There was no way. "And Erudite, and Dauntless, and Candor." Tori continued. Aria looked at her with a shocked face.

"WHAT?!?!" she yelled.
"SHHHHHHH!!" Tori shushed her knowing a supervisor would be showing up soon. "Your choices in the sim determine what faction you'll get, but you had a mix of all of them.

Aria looked at her, "But that's impossible?! You said yourself that the test narrows it down to one faction!"

"Not impossible, just extremely rare. They call it Divergent." Aria knew about Divergents, her father talked about them all the time. He'd always say they were dangerous, they were the "problem".

Tori continued, "You can't tell anyone about this. Not even your parents. As far as the world is concerned, you received an Amity result because that is what I manually entered."

Aria started to get anxious again, "So what am I supposed to do tomorrow?! I was supposed to learn what to do. The test was supposed to help me not make me even more confused. I was supposed to trust the test."

"The test didn't work on you. You have to trust yourself to make the right decision." She then pushed Aria out of the room, giving her one last look as she shut the door. Aria was left speechless. She didn't know what to think or do. She couldn't believe it. Divergent. She was a Divergent.

After a few moments she finally left the testing area and started to rush home. She was going so fast that she bumped into someone.

"Oh my god, I am so sorry! I wasn't-" she then realized it was Jacob. "Shit sorry Jake."

"No problem Ara. Why were you running anyway?" he asked her.

"Oh uh.." she had remembered what Tori had told her to do. "I just felt sick so I wanted to get home." She said hoping he would believe her lie.

"Oh was it the serum?" he asked. "I guess so, yeah." she answered.
"Alright, well did you get your result?" he asked knowing they weren't supposed to tell each other.
"Uh yeah."
"What was it?" he asked.
"What was yours?" She smiled and he laughed.

"Well I should go get some rest. See you tomorrow!" she said ending the conversation.

Once she got home her father was already standing near the door waiting for her. He stared at her, "what was your result?" he asked bluntly. She knew what he wanted to hear so she gave it to him: "Amity." He looked at her, "Good."

As he walked away she took a deep breath. Aria headed for her bathroom and turned on the shower. She washed all the makeup covering her bruises and cuts off and washed her hair. She couldn't help but think about her result over and over again. It was stuck in her head.

She got her pajamas on and started to get in her bed. She looked at her alarm clock realizing it was 10:30. She knew she needed to rest for tomorrow so she laid down and closed her eyes.
