Chapter 8: back to life

Monday hit, and it was back to school all over again. I was at my locker with Mindy while Tara tutored kids in a classroom down the hall.

"So how was the rest of your weekend?  I hadn't heard from you." Mindy said.

"Well I-"

"Spent the weekend knuckles deep in Tara's vagina. I don't judge you. I did the same with someone else this weekend." Mindy said.

"Sorry, I meant to text you." I said.

"Don't apologize, I've been waiting forever for you two love birds to get together." Mindy said.

"Yeah, but remember we're keeping it lowkey for a bit." I said.

"How long?" Mindy asked.

"Maybe a week." I said.

"I'm upset." Mindy said.

"Why?" I asked.

"Because I bought you this black 'I ♥️ my gf' shirt." She whined, holding the shirt up for me to see.

"That is a nice shirt." I said.

"Put ittt on. Put itttt on." She chanted quietly.

I took the shirt and examined it.

"I'll ask Tara." I said.

"Deal." Mindy smiled.

Lunch period

The group met at the lunch table this time. Still no Wes in sight.

"So happy at how much of a success Tara's party was." Liv said.

"All thanks to our expert party planner." Chad said, gesturing to me.

"Thank you guys, I guess I still got it." I said.

"Hell yeah." Mindy high fived me.

I looked at Tara, and She looked at me. I gestured to them, asking her if we should tell them. She nodded.

"We have to tell you guys something." I said.

Mindy smiled really big.

"As of the night of Tara's birthday, we're officially a couple." I said.

"Yaaaayyy." Liv and Chad said in unison.

"There's a complication, though." Tara said.

"What happened?" Liv asked.

"Wes also asked me out that night, and I said no. Not to be mean, he's just not my type." Tara shrugged.

"So we've been staying kind of lowkey for the moment." I said.

"I think he'll get over it." Mindy said,  waving her hand dismissively.

"Yeah, I think you guys should just hard launch it, to be honest. He can man up, he'll be okay." Liv said.

"Yeah, and if he's not, I'll talk to him. You guys shouldn't have to act differently around him." Chad said.

"You guys sure? I don't wanna come off as a bitch." Tara said.

"Nooo you're not a bitch." I said, rubbing her back gently.

"Hard launch. Hard launch. Hard launch." Mindy chanted quietly again.

Chad and Liv joined her.

I put the shirt on over my tube top and showed it to Tara.

"I love my gf." She smiled, reading the shirt. "That's so cute."

She gave me a quick kiss on the lips.

"Aww." Mindy, Chad, and Liv said in unison.

I put my arm around Tara, and we continued lunch.
