Parties came naturally here. Woodsboro, small town, rowdy kids.

There were parties for birthdays, holidays, or even for no reason.

Arianna wanted to throw one this weekend, and she was asking if I would do it with her.

"Well, I don't know, I'm -"

"Come on, Amber." She said, grabbing both of my hands.

I looked at her, then at our hands, then back at her. This was a torturous decision to make. Arianna was a nice girl, and my friend, but Tara is my girlfriend, and I can feel that Arianna likes me. It feels wrong even interacting with her.

"Let me sleep on it." I said, pulling my hands away.

The bell rang, and I was freed from this conversation. I met up with Tara in the hallways, I wanted to speak to her, I never actually asked her how she felt about Arianna.

"Hey." I said, leaning against the locker next to Tara's.

"Hi, pretty." She smiled and gave my lips a quick kiss.

I smiled looking at her rummage through her locker. She looks so cute focused.

After a sec I glanced around for a moment while Tara was fidgeting in her locker still. I caught Wes staring, but he looked away. I wonder if he's caught on.

I looked back down at Tara.
"I wanted to talk to you about something."

"Did I do something?" She asked, concerned.

"No, no, I just wanted to ask you about something important."

"Okay." She said calmly, looking up at me with slight anticipation.

"You remember that night at the beach party when we were playing Mindy's game?"

"Yeah." Tara replied.

"We got to Arianna's turn, and you got up and left, and I just wondered if you didn't like her or if me being around her bothers you." I explained.

Tara looked at me somberly and reached to hold one of my hands.
"I don't wanna be THAT girlfriend that doesn't let you have friends."

"But?" I said.

"I just feel like she likes you, and I trust you. I just don't trust her." Tara explained.

"Oh." I said.

"Was I that obvious?" She said half, smiling.

"Your body language is very telling." I laughed.

I could feel Wes' eyes boring into the back of my head. I turned around, and he also turned around, acting like he wasn't staring.

"What's wrong?" Tara asked.

"I think Wes knows." I said, grabbing her other hand.

"I wonder if he hates me." Tara said.

"If he does, he's a dick. A real friend would want to see you happy. Personally, I don't care if he hates me."

"So meann." Tara joked.

I grabbed her waist, and she stood on her tippy toes for a quick kiss.

I hope Wes saw that since he wants to eyeball people.

Tara and I spent a free period in our school library. It was one of our favorite places to be together.

We decided we would pick a book to read and check out our own separate copies and then talk about the book together.

"What do you wanna read? Lord of the flies?" Tara asked.
