How in the everlasting fuck did Emily not know who he was?

Y/N was baffled, stumped beyond belief. She knew what Purgatory was, albeit loosely, she knew who the Stranded were, and she even had a special Divine detection magic thingy to detect morality - how in Heaven's name had she not put two and two together? There are a good few Stranded souls, but when you think of the Stranded, you think of Long Sleeves. He was the Stranded soul for crying out loud!

But no, not even a wink of an afterthought showed that Emily knew who Y/N was. He revealed his true form and everything. She was around, apparently, she appeared after Lucifer fell from grace, so she must have been in Heaven at the time he was. Emily also knew Sera, who for lack of a better term was essentially Y/N's rival. Not only did she know Sera, she was the OTHER SERAPHIM! Nothing was adding up in Y/N's mind.

The other thing that flabbergasted him was Emily's reaction to him being a Stranded soul. There was a bit of shock, sure, but no screaming, no yelling, no crying for help - Emily just sat there and accepted him. It was a frighteningly new feeling that Y/N had never experienced before. Even at the hotel where all people were accepted for their past misdoings, there was apprehension behind Y/N's arrival. And then she agreed to keep it a secret that he was a Stranded soul; was this a setup? Was she doing this to spin it around into some kind of grand scheme to get him thrown back into Treachery? But she was too nice to do anything like that, right?

Ugh, this was complicated and confusing.

Y/N had appeared back in the hotel, now seeing it was well past midnight. He groaned a little and walked around the corridors aimlessly before settling on going to the bar - he needed a drink, not all this deep thinking solution-finding bullshit.

With a slow shuffle, Y/N made his way downstairs, lighting the end of one of his fingers with a candle flame to see where he was going. This place got really gothic come night-time. Upon reaching the bottom of the stairs he realised he was not alone. Angel was sitting at the bar, gulping down the remains of a bottle with a hunched back. Y/N coughed to make his presence known.

Y/N - "Rough day?"

Angel jumped at his voice, spinning around in shock before realising it was Y/N. In an instant he switched back to his usual self, smirking and stretching his legs across the countertop.

Angel - "Not at all~ I just felt like rewardin' myself after a day's good work, that's all~!"

Y/N - "This is a reward...?"

Y/N walked over, sitting down on the stool next to Angel with a sigh and resting his head on his hand. With the other, he drummed the bar absentmindedly. The state of him got a raised eyebrow from Angel, who spun around with his hands clasped together.

Angel - "Oh myyyyyy~ Looks like someone is all worked up."

Y/N - "... it's been a very long day."

Angel - "I know, you were only released this mornin'! You should relax, baby, take a bottle and a bitch to bed with ya tonight. Take your mind offa things, ey~?"

This didn't seem to help Y/N. He groaned in response, gently thudding his head against the bar and summoning a whiskey bottle into his hand.

Y/N - "... I always do this. "Oooooh, keep moving, you have so much shit to do." I haven't had a minute to sit down and think all day, and now I've got stupid stuff I'm thinking about coming around to kick my sphincter. It's driving me up the wall."

Angel - "I told ya you shoulda taken a break, but you didn't listen to me."

Y/N - "Yeah yeah, I don't wanna hear it."
