We made it to the back door of the house when I turned to Jordan,
"Where's your mom?" I worried.
"Don't worry, she's working late. She won't be home until six in the morning," Jordan replied. With that, I nodded and let myself outside. The girls followed.
--
It was a thirty minute walk from her house to the park where the statue was. The moon eerily shone down on the glass and reflected all around it. We all gathered together and stared at the statue, waiting for something to happen.
"Well," I said to no one in particular, "we're here. What now?"
"Shh," Avery hushed, "listen."
We stood, quiet and terrified, for five minutes. Then I felt sharp pain shoot down my back, like a small knife digging just through the flesh. I arched my back and bellowed in pain.
"Ow! What is this?" I roared. The girls watched me in horror. Finally the digging of my flesh stopped, and only stinging was left. Lexi walked behind me and lifted the back of my shirt.
"Violet," She quavered, "it's... How? Wh-what-" she lifted the shirt higher and stepped out of the way so everyone else could see. They all gasped.
"What is it? What happened?" I insisted. Avery took out her phone and snapped a picture, then walked up and held it in front of my face.
There were quarter-sized words scratched into my back, exactly like the ones in the bathroom. Only these scratches spelled out something different.
I read them aloud, "Now that you've involved your friends, prepare them all to meet their ends." I had to choke out the last word.
"Ends?" Camryn softly repeated.
"Guys, go home," I demanded, "befo-" I was cut off by a loud crack coming from behind me. I looked back and saw that the glass statue was beginning to shatter. It started to vibrate, and I knew it would give any minute.
"Duck!" I shouted to the girls. We all dropped to the ground and covered our heads as the glass shot out above us. After it all quieted, I slowly rose my head up and looked to my right at Lexi, Jordan, and Camryn.
They all slowly lifted their heads the same as I did, and crawled to their feet.
I saw Lexi's eyes widen as she let out an earsplitting scream.
