"We have a girl locked inside the Interview Room," Sam announced. He stood at the head of a table which included Clint Barton, Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, and one of their newest recruits, Peter Parker. No one had heard of the kid, only Spider-Man. But, he was incredibly impressive so they decided to bring him in early.
"We don't know anything about her, only that she is dangerous. She put up a good fight against Bucky. Unless our old man is getting rusty, that means she was most likely trained by someone which makes her even more dangerous. Mama bear might come looking for her cub. So let's find out what we can about her, and quickly."
Everyone nodded and stood. Bucky shifted to stand by Sam. "Did you just call me an old man?"
"Am I wrong?"
"Yes. If you haven't noticed I am in my prime at 108 years old. Hell, I look better than you and how old are you? 45?"
"Shut up, Cyborg. We have a job to do."
Bucky stopped in his tracks and put his
metal arm out, making Sam follow suit. "This girl is not a job to do. When we were fighting, she had that look in her eyes. Like she wasn't in control. Like she had been made to be like that."
"Or she could have had a look like she wanted to kill you. No matter what, she's still a threat. And until she tells us otherwise, she is my job. I have to keep a lot of people safe and she could be a liability in that situation."
And with that, Sam moved Bucky's arm and continued walking after the other members of his team. Bucky shook his head and followed, knowing that some of what his friend said was right. Because of what HYDRA did to him, he has a hard time trusting others. But he still couldn't shake the feeling of common ground that was shared between this girl and him. I guess I'll find out soon.
When the Avengers walked into the bulletproof glass room which connected to the interview room, they didn't know what to think of this kid. She had bruises and cuts from her recent fight, but her eyes were colder than ice. They showed a sharp relentlessness that made a few of the Avengers shiver. Everyone turned to Sam as he turned on the comms. He nodded to his team and began the conversation.
"Hello. My name is Sam Wilson. These are my friends and we mean you no harm. We call ourselves-"
"The Avengers?" she interrupted. "Don't worry I know exactly who you are. I know who each and everyone of you is. I know your flaws, strengths, weaknesses, powers. Although, I am slightly confused why you are here...and not in the graveyard."
Peter gulped and the hairs on everyone's necks stood up. They shared confused and worried faces, but the girl only looked bored. Clint leaned towards the mic. "What do you mean? Who are you?"
"Oh...I see now. I'm not home, am I? This must be the neighboring universe. That would explain why Stephen Strange was at the base," she muttered. It was almost like the others weren't there and she was talking to herself. If they hadn't been confused already, they definitely were now.
Then, she locked eyes with all of them and smiled mischievously. "So then you must not know who I am? How silly of me. My name is Seraphina. And I'm your murderer."
The silence inside the room was so loud. No one blinked. "What do you mean?" Bucky asked. Seraphina chuckled evilly. "Well I figured that after I watched your band of hero's kill my family, I'd return the favor. But I wasn't allowed to kill all of you, even though I could've. I was only allowed four. And I picked very wisely."
No one wanted to know anything else at this point. This girl belonged in an asylum at best. As Sam was getting ready to throw her into a cell, Yelena stopped him. "We need to find out everything we can. Even if we don't like it."
