I held my head whilst professor Wilde continued going on and on about the french revolution.
I tried to stay focused but couldn't because my head was still pounding from last night at the party.
I sighed when class ended and we all stood to leave. Once class was over, everyone headed to the quad. I put down a blanket and Natalie came and sat with me.
I leaned down and slept gently.
"Oh my god." She said, before taking my hand, waking me up. Grace then pointed to the roof of the gymnasium. I looked up and saw Kamden standing there.
My breath got caught in my throat. I ran closer to the group just below the gymnasium.
I looked up and caught her glare. I shook my head.
"Don't do this Kam. Don't do this." I shut my eyes, tears dwelling in them.
I saw her nod and then there she went. I heard the slap and the crack of her bones against the sidewalk.
Tears drip down my face in horror. Natalie pulls me from looking at her.
Teachers and paramedics came and put her in the ambulance. But it was over, she was dead.
-2 weeks later-
Things have been bad around here. Everyone has been really upset about what happened. I still can't believe that she's really gone.
I mean, I was there so I know it happened.
I kept one of her shirts when her parents came to gather her things. I'll never forget how lost and confused her mother looked.
I was supposed to get a new roommate today so I was tidying up my side of the room. The door swung open and in came a young man. He had black hair and wore a long t-shirt with some black jeans and a pair of black and white Converse. He looked really tired.
"I think you have the wrong room." I said, heartlessly.
"Room 213 D?" He asked.
"Yeah. You my new roommate?" I asked. He nodded and said, "I guess."
"I'm Michael." He put his bags on the empty bed where Kamden used to sleep. I spent the first few nights in her bed.
We weren't very close but we were close enough that I've had nightmares since it happened because there's been no one to hold me and protect me.
"Julianne."
"I hope you don't mind me sleeping where she slept." He said, nicely.
"I don't see anywhere else for you to sleep, you're fine." I said, trying to act like it didn't effect me. I was really still hurting.
I didn't want anyone else in this room but her, but I guess they had to get another student in here.
He unpacked his things into her old dresser. He then pulled some black sheets onto the bed and hung his guitar on the wall.
"You play guitar?" I asked, he nodded.
"Yeah. I'm in a band. We call ourselves, 5 seconds of summer. My friends, Ashton, Calum and Luke all play together."
"Well, that must be fun." I was not amused.
I sat at my desk and looked up at some of her artwork that I kept. I filed through some of my old music.
I used to play drums back home, but I gave up on it for journalism which is what my mom and dad were and wanted for me.
They said that drumming leads to bands, bands lead to sex, sex leads to underage pregnancy and babies ruin lives.
I thought they were right but now I never have fun waking up in the morning.
"So, what does everyone play?" I asked.
"Ashton plays drums, Luke plays guitar and sings, Calum on bass, and me on another guitar."
"Cool." This was really awkward. He put his laptop onto the bed and shoved his bag under the bed.
"There's a party tonight at CCU. You coming?" I asked. I'd spent most of these last few nights coming back drunk to forget the paint that I felt.
"I don't really like to party." He said.
"C'mon. It's not that bad. Bring your band." I offered.
"I'll have to ask them." He said.
"Well. It starts in and hour and I need to get ready so, um...leave or something." I said, really not caring if he was an asshole about this situation.
He grabbed his cellphone and then left the room.
