CHAPTER 9
After a quick shower, I headed to Manami's room with James and Liam in tow. I didn't say anything to them; I just allowed them to follow me. I avoided eye contact as much as possible. I couldn't help but think of Kian on my way to see her, and I felt my cheeks flush. There was so much I wanted to know, yet part of me didn't want to know. Sometimes ignorance is bliss, but sometimes it could get you killed. By the way things were going, I didn't know which one it would be.
She opened the door right away when I knocked. I gave her a fierce hug the second I saw her.
"We have to talk," I said as I entered the suite and left the guys outside.
"I'm good, thanks for asking," she said, pinching my arm.
"It's official. I'm stupid." I ignored her sarcasm. As I spoke, I saw Scott emerge from the bedroom.
"Hey, Cat. How ya doin'?" he asked in his usual cheerful manner.
I couldn't help but look from him to my friend, and I didn't bother hiding my suspicion about the two of them. Far be it from me to give anyone dating advice. However, I worried about her. She didn't need to get wrapped up in this mess, this world of theirs.
"I'm fine, thanks." Scott noticed my uneasiness right away.
"Well, I was just leaving. Manami, have a great trip home." He kissed the back of her hand. She smiled, and I could have sworn she batted her eyelashes at him. He patted my head on the way out.
"See ya later, Cat." Scott waved goodbye before leaving the suite.
I turned and faced her with hands on my hips. "What have you been up to, Manami?"
She laughed.
"I can ask you the same, dear friend," she replied. I frowned and touched my cheeks to see if they were blushing. Was I so easy to read? Did I have a sign on my forehead that read, 'Just had sex with Kian?'
I opened my mouth to say something but shut it as I glanced back at the door. I wasn't sure if this room was soundproof. I didn't want the guys to hear what I had to say. Hell, I didn't even wanna hear what I had to say. I took her hand and led her to the bathroom, shutting the door behind us.
"OK, listen very carefully to what I have to say. Don't interrupt me, or I won't tell you a damn thing." I took a deep breath before I spoke again, summoning the courage to tell her of my activities from the previous night, blushing again at just the thought.
I wanted to address the Scott issue before diving into what I had done with Kian. She held a hand up, stopping me from saying anything else.
"You had sex with Kian, you're regretting it now, and you want to know what to do. You also don't want me to have anything to do with Scott." Her words left me dumbfounded.
I just stared at her, unable to think clearly about what I wanted to say to that.
"Um. What?" It was all I could muster up.
"Cat, I can smell him on you. Scott and I are just having fun, nothing serious. Besides, we're not compatible."
Huh? She lost me. I was confused. I needed some clarification.
"Care to elaborate?" I wondered how in the world she knew. Even though I showered, his lavender scent must have lingered in my hair.
"I love you dearly, Cat, but I have withheld something from you for a long time. I did not confide in you before because you did not know of this world until now." She spoke slowly, trying to gauge my expression, which was one of further confusion bordering on anger.
