CHAPTER 5

I awoke with Null still next to me; no surprise there. I took the opportunity to prepare myself for the day while he slept or whatever it was that vampires did. I showered instead of bathing in case Lee Ann came in again and scared me. I didn't want to drown for no good reason. Deciding to linger in the shower a bit longer, I thought about the previous night. I was relieved that no harm had befallen us. However, even with my fresh head injury, I remembered what Kian and I had discussed. Expressing myself wasn't one of my strengths. Running away was something I excelled at, especially when it involved feelings. I can sometimes admit to some of my character flaws, and at other times, I fight against myself.

While lathering my hair, I remembered the detective's name, Anderson. Once I was sufficiently ready, I would give him a call. As I reached for a towel, I realized I didn't have any clothes with me. I wasn't about to put on the revealing, fancy dress from last night to have an interview with a homicide detective. I wrapped my hair with another towel from the rack and stepped into the room. I searched around to see if I could find anything to wear. All I could find were Armani suits and the like. I went to the door, knowing there would be someone guarding outside, and cracked open the door.

"Hey, would it be possible for one of you guys to find me something to wear?" I whispered. One of the guards had a familiar face; the other I never met.

"Sure thing, Cat. What size?"

"Oh. Um. Three, I guess," I replied, still trying to remember who he was.

"OK, I'll be back in about twenty minutes. No worries, I'll find something perfect for ya." I just couldn't wait to see what Mr. Muscles would show up with.

"Okay, I'll see you in twenty then." I smiled and closed the door.

I then remembered his name was Liam. He was a nice guy, tall with lean muscles and deep brown eyes. His hair was black, cut in a military style. Most of Kian's employees had that same kind of cut, except for the other guy at the door. He had blondish hair in a messy, shaggy cut. His body was very similar to Liam's.

After I locked the door, I went into the bathroom to deal with my hair. Once there, I cursed aloud, wishing I had asked Liam to find me some taming lotion for my hair. I didn't think Kian would mind my snooping around for hair products. After opening the fifth drawer, I found something that would help a bit. It wasn't the same stuff I used, but it would do the job. Satisfied with the hairdo, I entered the bedroom and waited for my clothes.

I jumped out of the loveseat when I heard the knock. I quickly opened the door and grabbed what he gave me.

"Thanks, Liam," I whispered and smiled appreciatively.

Closing the door, I noticed three bags. All I wanted was an outfit for the day, not three. I wasn't about to worry about it since I wasn't paying for it, but Kian was. That made me feel guilty. I didn't want him to think that I was taking advantage of his generosity or his feelings, for that matter.

Wolf Boy picked out some perfect outfits for me. It almost made me laugh to think someone like him had great taste in women's clothing. Out of everything he got me, I opted for jeans and a blue dress shirt with quarter sleeves. He even picked out some nice boots. Once dressed, I turned and looked at Kian on the bed. He seemed so peaceful. It was almost one in the afternoon, and it would be a few more hours until he woke up or came back to life.

I dug out Detective Anderson's card from my tiny purse and picked up the phone to call him. I sat at the desk next to a window. Before I dialed, however, I had to figure out if I could leave alone or if Kian's guards had strict orders not to let me outside. I sighed, marched over to the door, and opened it. Two sets of eyes descended on me.
