3rd Person POV

Hailey's parents were woken up by the sound of the phone ringing. Groggily, the old teal haired man picked up the phone. "Hello?" he mumbled into the receiver.

His expression grew concerned as he listened to what the blonde woman on the call had to say. He rubbed his eyes, trying to wake up fully. "Wait, what do you mean you can't find her? She isn't with Jake?"

"No," replied Jake's mom, her voice filled with worry. "They had a fight, and Hailey stormed out of the house last night. Jake's been looking for her all night, but he can't find any trace of her."

Michael sat up in bed, fully alert now. "She stormed out of the house? All alone? At night?" This was not at all like Hailey. She was the most responsible when it came to things like these.

Shannon woke up too when she heard her husband talking on the phone. She sat up in bed and listened to the conversation, her face growing paler by the second.

Michael was silent for a moment, absorbing the news. "Okay, okay. We'll start searching on our end. Keep us updated if you hear anything, please."

"Of course," replied Jake's mom, her voice tight with worry. "Please call us if you find her."

As Michael hung up the phone, the room was filled with a tense silence. Both the parents of the missing teen were wide awake, their minds racing with worry for their daughter. They had to do something but before that it was their two other children who had the right to know what happened to their sister.

They walked into Bethany's rooms, informing her about Hailey's disappearance. They tried to keep calm, so as not to worry the kids too much, but it was evident that they were immensely worried. Bethany was absolutely dejected to hear that her big sister was missing but Shannon managed to console her.

Their other child, Zander had been laying awake the whole night, unable to sleep at the thought of Hailey spending the night at Jake's house. He never understood why she trusted him so much and perhaps he never will.

They walked into Zander's room. As soon as he woke saw his parents with grave expressions on their faces, he sat up, alarmed. "What's going on? What happened?"

"Zander," Michael started slowly. "We need to tell you something, and it's very serious."

Zander frowned, sensing the gravity in his stepfather's tone. "What is it? Is everything okay?"

"It's about Hailey," said Shannon gently. "She's...missing."

Zander's eyes widened in shock. "What do you mean, missing? Wasn't she having a sleepover at Jake's house?"

Shannon nodded. "She was, but they had a big fight, and she stormed out of the house. Jake hasn't seen her since, and we have no idea where she could be."

Zander's expression darkened. "Jake. Of course. It has to be his fault."

Michael placed a hand on Zander's shoulder. "We don't know for sure if it's his fault, son. Right now, we just need you to be calm, okay?"
