The New Life of Amaya

Chapter 14

When I woke the next day I woke to find that I was covered up under a blanket. One that wasn't in my room previously. This blanket was a dark navy blue with a gold underside. Rex was still my pillow but a pillow that licked my face to wake me up. I reached up and petted his head sitting up. 

"Where'd the blanket come from Rex?" I asked him and he barked in response as if I knew what he said, "And why did you let me sleep on you?"

Rex barked again and I kissed the top of his head going into my closet to find something to wear. I looked at the clothes inside and saw many dresses with floral prints. Today I picked a navy-blue dress with white roses all over. It was a dress cut into a V-shape on top so I wore a white undershirt to hide any part of me that could be seen indecent.  I found a pair of black flats to go with the black undershirt and black outline on the flowers that were barely visible to the eye. The dress came past my knees and I found a small black jacket to wear on top. 

I went back into my room and looked at Rex who now laid next to my backpack and phone. I smiled at him and grabbed my backpack and my phone then Rex and I were on our way downstairs. Rex grabbed the sleeve of my jacket leading me into the dining room. 

"Rex! I can't! I don't have time to eat." I yelled at him.

Rex growled at me continuing to drag me into the dining room. 

"Rex!" I yelled and suddenly Rex stopped in front of a laughing man. I looked up to see Zhi.

"You should eat, per the request of Rex." Zhi said.

"I have to go to school. I didn't go to my first class I have today I don't want to nor can I be late for it." I said. 

Rex sat down and barked at me.

"That's fine Rex, I'll still go to school if you'd like to stay put." I said with a firm look. 

Rex growled low before barking and argumentative type bark at me.

"No, you need to eat, mi paloma." Andreas said coming in fixing his suit's sleeve cuff. 

I turned to look at him, "But-"

"No buts, you need to eat so you can have the strength to get through the day." Andreas countered. "I'll see you in class later. I have to head off now. Zhi will drive you to class with the triplets."

I frowned at him and Andreas looked at me finally a small smile on his face as he closed the gap between us. He grabbed my arm pulling me into a hug and kissed the top of my head. 

"Fine." I sighed, "Though I'm not really hungry." 

Andreas pulled back smiling at me, "If you eat breakfast I'll let you pick what we eat for dinner."

"Really?" I asked with a hopeful smile.

"Yes, anything you desire. I'll make it happen." Andreas said.

"Chinese!" I said excitedly, "Peanut Butter chicken! Wonton Soup! Rangoon! Oh! And I want Japanese food too!" 

Andreas and Zhi laughed at me.

"Okay, it's a feast tonight then." Andreas smiled kissing the top of my head. "Eat a bit then go straight to class. I've got to get going."

I nodded, "okay."

"Good, Zhi, take care of her." Andreas looked at Rex, "Rex, you too."

Rex barked when Zhi nodded. The triplets came running into the dining room.

"Sir!" They all hollered.

"Since we are acting as students, can we eat in the dining room too?" Donnie asked.
