The New Life of Amaya

Chapter 15

Once dressed in my riding uniform Andreas and I went to the stables where as a class we walked into the stables to meet the horses. There were two white horses, four brown and five black. Andreas followed me to the white horses that were there. One male, one female and they were the only pair of horses in a stall together. 

"They are my mother's," Andreas whispered in my ear, "She bought them as fouls shortly before she passed as a gift for myself and my future bride. When she passed my father had them sent here."

"Why haven't you brought them back home?" I whispered back.

"I haven't found someone I want to spend my life with yet. At least not until I found you." He whispered back.

"Andreas, Amaya, what are you two doing just standing there. You'll have to ride those two since all the others have been claimed for this class." The teacher spoke, "Hurry up and mount your horses."

"This'll be fun, they don't like anyone and I haven't seen them since I was a teen." Andreas whispered.

I reached in and the female came towards me. Andreas grabbed my shoulder scared and ready to pull me back just in case but nothing happed. The female nuzzled my hand allowing me to get closer to her and touch our foreheads. Andreas' hand moved from my shoulder and he breathed a sigh of relief.

"Shall we then?" He asked pulling his out of the stall. 

I nodded grabbing her reins and following him. Once out of the stables we mounted our horses and looked at our professor. 

"Pair up and hit the trails. Meet back here in an hour." Our teacher shouted. 

"Come," Andreas said heading off and my horse automatically followed after him. 

We went through trees and came to a field of flowers. My horse and Andreas' horse matched perfectly as we went through the path. Andreas seemed like he was taken back to a time that made him happy.

"You know," Andreas said, "My mom told me, when she gifted these horses to me, that the male was for me and when the time was right and I started dating the female would accept my girlfriend. I dated over the years, but no one could come close to her. She'd stomp her feet or bite. Never has she allowed someone to ride her, let alone get close to her."

"What does that mean..?" I asked him. 

Andreas reached for my hand, a smile on his face. I took it as he said, "Let's get married?"

"I barely know you...We only just agreed to date the other day.." I said squeezing his hand tightly.

"Did you know my mom and dad didn't date before marrying." He asked me.

I shook my head no. "I did not." 

"I know my mom would have loved you." Andreas said with a smile.

I smiled back and after a while I looked at Andreas, "Andreas..."

"Yes?" he asked looking back at me allowing his horse to guide mine as we went through the field of flowers.

"I'd like to ask if we could alter my schedule a bit...Allow me to take all the other courses I don't have with you online and maybe switch Spanish to online and move art to the days I have etiquette and equestrian?"

"Is that what you really want?" Andreas asked.

"Yes..." I said looking at him, "And maybe you can bring these two home? They may be a lot happier at home." 

Andreas gave me a calm reassuring smile, "Of course, Amaya. I'll have it done immediately." 

"Thank you." I said with a smile.

"Boss! It's time to head back!" Leo shouted as he and his brothers rode up to us.

Andreas nodded, "Let's head back" and turned his horse, my horse following suit. 

We caught up to the turtle triplets and the five of us headed back to the stables. Andreas helped me down then lead our horses back to the stables. He came to me and smiled at me as he took me into a hug. He then kissed the top of my head before pulling away.

"We can skip Spanish class for today. I'll go speak to the dean about switching Art and Spanish then moving you to online for the other classes." Andreas said.

"Thank you. I'll meet you at the car?" I asked. 

Andreas nodded and looked at Rex, "Take care of her, Rex."

Rex barked as we parted way and I went to change. I looked down at Rex who'd been quiet for the most part today and smiled.

"I'm grateful for you Rex. You're my best friend" I said making him bark at me. 

Once I was dressed I started walking towards the cars. The turtle triplets were still struggling to get out of their clothes as I walked up and saw more than one car. Rex suddenly stopped and began growling and barking at the cars in front of us. I stopped too seeing men get out of the cars. Men I don't recognize. Rex got low and began barking aggressively.

Three men walked towards Rex and he lunged at the three men. 

Suddenly a man came up and grabbed me, "Leave the dog. We only want her." He said in a rough tone.

One of the men kicked Rex making him fly and land against the tree. Rex whimpered and struggled to get up. 

"REX!!!!" I screamed as Rex continued to try to get up as they shoved me into the car and the got in themselves. "REX!!!!" I screamed again

"Shut up or we'll kill you." The man growled.

"You'll kill me either way!" I shouted and cried out for Rex over and over until I saw Andreas emerge with the turtle triplets. I began screaming for him instead, "ANDREAS!!!" 

Andreas looked from Rex to me shouting for him in the back of the car window. Andreas looked terrified and angry all at once as he and the triplets scurried around. Donnie and Leo grabbed Rex as they all made it to Zhi's car where all but Donnie got in. Donnie stayed behind with Rex as he waited for one of the other guards to drive up. 

"Get out of the window!" The man shouted as he pulled me to sit down. I looked behind me to see Zhi close behind as they drove away in hopes that they'd lose Zhi and Andreas. 

It was a high speed chase between these men and Zhi for a while. All they kept doing were circles around the island because they couldn't get to the docks where the ships were. I looked behind me again to see Zhi and Andreas talking. Zhi was saying they could hit this car to stop it but Andreas didn't want to. When I saw them look at me again I nodded my head mouthing the words 'Do it' to them over and over. Andreas looked defeated but nodded his head while Zhi spoke into the phone. 

Suddenly a car came from the side and hit us making the car roll over and all of us inside the car tumbled around. Soon it stopped rolling and the car felt warm from the inside. I blinked my eyes as I looked toward the front windshield and saw smoke and the colors red and orange. All the men around me weren't moving but I could hear screams outside the car.

"Amaya!" I heard both Andreas and Zhi scream. 

Soon I heard sirens in the distance and glass breaking. 

"Sir, let me get her!" Zhi screamed, "I don't want you to get hurt!"

"Get her Zhi! Give her to me!" Andreas screamed.

"Yes sir!" Zhi yelled over the sirens and I could feel his hands reach in for me, "Amaya, stay awake! Don't fall asleep!" Zhi pulled me out of the car and carried me over to Andreas who took me from his hands. "Sir, I'll follow you and the ambulance to the hospital, you go with Amaya." 

"Thank you Zhi!" Andreas carried me to the ambulance and laid me on the gurney where he stepped back to let the paramedics work on me. "Amaya, please stay awake.."
