Dear Gillenia,

My hand was trembling as I signed the contract for the Games. Of course we considered the consequences; in fact, we fought about them for hours. I told Coriolanus that the killing of innocent citizens does not feed the people's happiness. Coriolanus said it does, because the "animals" are put in their place. The Hanging Tree is farther than the arena and the courts would plead the rebels guilty and send them to their deaths anyways. Why not die in fame on T.V.? His logic is making no sense. He said I have no more "animalistic district nature" left in me since I became attached to the Capitol. Then he said, "As much as I value your opinion as my wife, I ultimately make the final decision which you must obey as a citizen. We are revolutionaries doing the country a favour. The districts will prefer the glitz we offer over their pig says at some point." I told him I don't know how to love him and his politics. I can't just "get used to watching the Games." But then again, if I can't side with Flint and my dismissive district, I must take the Capitol side. You hope that I don't pity my husband. I do. I see how vigorous he works. He has to please me and Panem, his "children", his "garden". He wants me to feel safe from my past and be part of his presidential acts. All I can do is trust him.

Volumnia Gaul is dead. Her "pets" rebelled against her. Coryo has made me Head Gamemaker I am nervous about controlling this daunting task, but can at least have the authority while the game plays out. Please don't judge me, there is nothing I can do. But know I would never use pain to you directly, by any means. In my terrified state, I asked Coryo if he really loves me now, body and soul. He tells me he does every morning and every night. He's been reassuring me, "Bel, (my new nickname) the world will be a better place because of our love." I hope he's right. Regardless of the outcome you are still my dearest friend and I'll always support you.

Best of love,

Sable
