EVAN WAS BRIMMING WITH joy, a grin practically plastered on her face as she walked through the front door of the shared apartment. Upon seeing the lights on, a signal to her that something was going on, she quickly adjusted her hair and straightened out her dress to make a good impression.
From the living room, she heard Sam's voice introducing a guest. "Dean, this is my girlfriend, Jessica." His voice was filled with a hint of pride she couldn't miss.
Evan couldn't help but smirk as she sauntered into the living room, standing confidently beside Jessica. "Don't forget to introduce me, Sam," she chimed in with a playful smile.
Sam obliged, turning to their guest, "And that is me and Jessica's roommate, Evan." Evan sent the man next to Sam, presumably Dean, a smirk and was met with one in return.
Jessica's eyes widened in surprise, "Wait. Your brother Dean?" She had heard about Sam's brother but never met him.
"I love the Smurfs." Dean pointed at Jessica's shirt as he walked closer to her. He then stood in front of her, looking her up and down, "You know, I got to tell you. You are completely out of my brother's league." His words were teasing, but there was a hint of seriousness to it.
Jessica tried to excuse herself, "Just let me put something on." But Dean shook his head.
"No, no. I wouldn't dream of it, seriously." His words made Jessica glance at Sam, a look of uncertainty in her eyes.
"Hey, man," Evan spoke up, her voice firm, making Dean turn to her. "She's taken. Leave her be, will you?"
Dean chuckled at her protectiveness, "Feisty, I like it," He said before making his way back over to Sam. "Anyway, I got to borrow your boyfriend here, talk about some private family business, but nice meeting you." He flashed Evan a smile that was both charming and mischievous.
"I like him," Evan confessed, biting her bottom lip softly. "He's butch."
Sam glanced between Evan and Dean, not quite comfortable with the way they were looking at each other. "No." He shook his head, a clear warning in his eyes as he walked over to Evan and Jessica. "Evan, why don't you go take a whisk to your neck, yeah?" He motioned towards Evan's neck which was littered with love bites, some red and some purple.
"Nice meeting you Dean," Evan raised her hand, offering a soft wave before heading to the kitchen to grab a whisk.
"No, whatever you want to say, you can say it in front of them," Sam interjected, telling his brother there was no need for secrecy.
"Okay." Dean nodded, looking serious. "Dad hasn't been home in a few days."
"So? He's working overtime on a "Miller Time" shift. He'll stumble back in sooner or later." Sam dismissed his brother's concern.
"Dad's on a hunting trip," Dean said, his words catching Evan's attention and making her pull the whisk away from her neck. "And he hasn't been home in a few days."
"Jess, excuse us." Evan quickly set the whisk down, her heart pounding. She quickly retreated into her room. "We have to go outside."
Evan held her breath, her ears attuned to the diminishing sound of footsteps echoing through the hollow hallway. The familiar creak of the apartment door signaled her solitude. Only then did she dare to move, her hand reaching out to draw the window open. The cool night air rushed in, sweeping away the remnants of the day's heat. With utmost care, she pulled the blinds shut, casting the room into gentle darkness.
She proceeded to slip out of her dress, the fabric pooling at her feet like a puddle of moonlight. Her boots were next, followed by the playful cat ears and the daring fishnets that had been discarded earlier in the evening.
