"NOW, I'M SORRY, BUT why does the Wildlife Service care about an accidental drowning?" The sheriff questioned as he let Sam, Evan, and Dean behind the counter.

"You sure it's accidental?" Sam questioned as he, Evan, and Dean followed the sheriff to his office. "Will Carlton saw something grab his sister,"

"Like what?" The Sheriff questioned. "Here, sit, please. There are no indigenous carnivores in that lake." The three others sat down as the sheriff motioned to the seats in front of his desk. "There's nothing big enough to pull down a person unless it was the Loch Ness monster,"

"Yeah," Dean let out a breathy chuckle. "Right," Dean's airy tone was now a flat tone as he looked at Sam and Evan.

"Will Carlton was traumatized, and sometimes the mind plays tricks. Still, we dragged that entire lake." The sheriff took a seat. "We even ran a sonar sweep, just to be sure. And there was nothing down there,"

"That's weird though," Dean spoke up, leaning forward. "I mean, that's the third missing body this year."

"I know," The sheriff nodded. "These are people from my town. These are people I care about,"

"Listen, Sheriff..." Evan leaned forward, looking at the man's name tag. "Sheriff Devens, these are people from my state. Now, I've been fishing out on that lake before, and I know that there are very few carnivorous fish in that lake. Maybe some bass or some carp, hell, maybe even some crappie. Now, you're going to sit here and tell me you're just going to ignore the fact that there is nobody in that lake?" Evan questioned, her eyes piercing into the Sheriff's.

"Look, all this, it won't be a problem much longer," The Sheriff leaned back in his chair.

"What do you mean?" Dean questioned.

"Well, the dam of course," The Sheriff looked to Dean.

"Of course," Dean nodded, making Evan resist the urge to roll her eyes. "The dam. It's has, yeah, sprung a leak,"

"It's falling apart," The Sheriff corrected Dean. "And the feds won't give us the grant to repair it. So they've opened the spillway. In another six months, there won't be much of a lake. Won't be much of a town either. But as Federal Wildlife, you already knew that," The man leaned forward, staring at the three in front of him, making Evan take in a breath through her nose.

He's onto us, Evan thought to herself before Dean spoke up. "Exactly." Dean nodded before the door opened.

"Sorry, am I interrupting?" The woman questioned as she walked into the office. "I can come back later." Evan watched as Dean and Sam quickly stood up before rolling her eyes and following them to stand.

"This is my daughter," The Sheriff explained as Dean took a few steps to stand in front of the woman.

"Pleasure to meet you," Dean held out his hand. "I'm Dean," Evan couldn't help but let a small scoff fall past her lips as she viewed Dean's flirty little smile.

"Andrea Barr." The woman shook Dean's hand. "Hi."

"Hi," Dean repeated the woman's greeting.

"They're from the Wildlife Service, about the lake," The Sheriff spoke to his daughter.

"Oh," Andrea voiced before a small child stepped out from behind her.

"Oh, well, hey there." Dean smiled. "What's your name?" Dean asked the kid, but the kid ignored him and walked out of the office, Andrea following after her son.

"His name's Lucas," The Sheriff spoke up.

"Is he okay?" Sam questioned.

"My grandson has been through a lot. We all have," The Sheriff sighed before walking over to the door. "Well, if there's anything else I can do for you, please let me know,"
