~Chapter 1~
Beep. Beep. Beep.
What's that noise? Isobel thought.
Beep. Beep.
I got to find out what that is!
It was a slow but steady, enough to drive Isobel crazy. There was just no end to it, it just kept beeping. But it was loud enough to wake Isobel up from being unconscious. Isobel tried to sit up, but when she tried she felt a throbbing in the back of her head.
"Ah, my head" she said out loud.
She reached backed and lightly touched her head, then brought her hand back to her eye view. Blood. Isobel started to tremble with Apprehensiveness, agony, and unconsciousness slowly creeping upon her again.
What happened? She thought, with a bunch of questions tumbling around in her head.
"I need help" she cried in a scratchy whisper.
All of a sudden, everything started to look like it had been blurred with water, and then everything was black.
It had been three days since the plane had crashed in the Kalahari Desert. There were no survivors left besides Isobel. Her head had been gashed open when the plane ceiling had caved in crashing into the ground. The ceiling had torn open, and the freshly torn metal had driven into her skull, causing a skull fracture. It definitely needed medical treatment and fast.
Suddenly, by Gods grace, Isobel woke up. It had been 78 hours that she had been unconscious. The room was spinning, and the ground was tilting, so it seemed to Isobel.
If I don't get up, and find help I'm going to die! Isobel thought, causing her head to pound.
Isobel reached for the plane seat in front of her to help her self up, but fell back down with a loud thud.
"Come on Isobel," She said laconically.
She wanted to lie down, and rest, but she knew she needed to get up...Or die. She struggled to stand, and with great effort, finally succeeded. She looked around, and was horrified by what was before her eyes. Bodies. They were everywhere, just laying there. She went to Shirley, a woman she had gotten to know, and picked up her wrist. No pulse.
"No!" Isobel cried, tears starting to emerge down her face. "I'll miss you Shirley."
She walked over to the pilot's private room, and once again heard the beeping that she had heard 3 days before. It was the warning alarm flashing red. All of a sudden she recalled it all. The plane had been struck by lightning during a horrible storm, had lost control, and power. She remembered the plane crashing, and reeling rapidly unto the ground. She shuddered at the thought of the ceiling crashing into her head again.
She walked over to the plane entrance, but couldn't get out, blocked by one of the plane seats. She went to the nearest window, and tossed her leg through it.
"Oh God. Help me!"
More hesitant this time, she threw her other leg through the window. And to the best of her ability slid her body though and landed in a dust of sand 8ft below. She landed on her hands and knees, and went into a sudden coughing fit. Coughing did not feel great to her head, and made her feel nauseous and dizzy. She reached up her hand to her gash and felt something moving. She quickly retrieved her hand to her view. There laid a handful of maggots, which made her feel even more delirious. She tried to stop herself, but it all came to fast. Vomit came hurling out all over her hands. She tried to wipe her hands off on her clothes, but it didn't make any difference, her hands getting covered in sand caked vomit. She was in so much pain, that she didn't even notice her surroundings. She slowly brought her head up, and gasped. She wanted to cry, but she was in so much pain that she wouldn't even be able to make herself cry if she tried.
"Oh Jesus, Jesus, oh how I need you so badly right now." She started to have a trembling fit, which was unstoppable.
Dragging herself, not knowing where she was going, she continued on into the vast desert. The blistering sun and the lack of food and water made it hard for Isobel to move. But she forced herself to, pausing every few feet. She had moved about a mile, and she just could not move any further. She threw herself on the ground, not caring about the sand filling her gash. She knew that there was no hope of anybody to stumble upon her in the middle of the desert, so she lost all thoughts of being rescued. She tried to keep her eyes open, but it felt so good to just close her eyes and rest. As soon as Isobel closed her eyes, everything went black, and she knew no more.
