Mel is an event manager for one of the biggest arenas in New York. A new opportunity is presented to her that she cannot turn down. She decides to uproot her and her daughter's lives and move across the world to start anew. What happens when the lea...
Bug's dress came in and we went for final fittings. When we enter the shop the manager comes over to me, catching me before I go into the dressing room.
"Excuse me, Miss West?"
"Yes?"
"I was wondering if I might have a word with you, in private?"
"Um, sure. Eunji, will you try her dress on her and make sure everything is good?"
I follow the manager to what I am assuming is her office. Once inside she closes the door as we both take a seat.
"Miss West, someone reached out to us from HYBE requesting a second wedding dress for you?"
"What?" You ask confused.
"They want to do some official photos of you and Mr. Kim to release to the public. When I told them you were coming in today, they asked me to have you pick a second dress. They do not want to mess with the tradition of not seeing the bride in her dress. However, being able to release a picture with the announcement can sometimes keep the fans from going into a frenzy looking for a picture. I pulled some of the dresses you originally tried on before you selected yours or if you want we can look at something different."
"How many people here know who the groom is?"
"Don't worry. We are all under strict NDAs. We have a lot of idols who shop here."
Two hours later, I chose a second dress to be altered as well as tried on my real dress to ensure the alterations were done correctly. The second dress is stunning and very different from my actual dress. It's an elegant off-the-shoulder gown with intricate lace details and a long, flowing train. As I twirl in front of the mirror, the delicate fabric catches the light, creating a dazzling effect. I can almost see the press photos in my mind, the perfect blend of traditional and modern.
After finalizing the details with the manager, I return to the dressing room where Eunji is helping Bug with her dress. She looks adorable, twirling around in excitement.
"How's everything, Bug?" I ask, smiling at her.
"It's so pretty! I love it!" she replies, beaming.
We thank the staff and head out, Bug chatting animatedly about the upcoming wedding. My mind, however, is still spinning from the conversation with the manager. The reality of my marriage being a public spectacle is setting in, and I'm beginning to understand the magnitude of it all. I mean I know we planned for this by releasing a fake wedding date but, I guess it is starting to get real. When we get home, I tell Joon about the request for the second dress
.
"I understand why they want the photos," he says, "but I want to make sure you're comfortable with everything."
"I am," I assure him. "I just want to make sure we stay true to ourselves in the process."
He smiles, pulling me into a gentle embrace. "We will. No matter what happens, this day is about us. The rest is just noise. Plus, the fact that I get to see you in two wedding dresses...I can't wait."
Three months later
I find myself standing in a photography studio. Stylists from HYBE have done my hair and make-up. They have just zipped me up in my dress and I am waiting to walk out for Joon to see me for the first time.
