Namjoon POV
I watched her breathing even out as she fell asleep and I took a seat in the chair in the corner of the room. She makes me feel things that I hadn't felt toward anyone in a long time. I pull out a book, trying to distract myself so I am not simply watching her sleep like some kind of creep. But my mind keeps going back to her.
She is so strong. I can't imagine trying to raise a child on my own. One a result of rape on top of that. Not that it changes the way she feels about Joon. You can tell that little girl is her entire world. It is impressive how she throws herself into work and yet still has time to spend with her. They both bring out my protective side, making me want to shield them from all of the injustices of the world and take care of them to ensure they are happy and healthy.
I have to get out of this room and clear my head. Stepping out onto the attached balcony with my book in hand, I watch the world go by. Sitting down, I return to my book and enjoy the fresh air. A few hours later, Mel moves around, waking up as she looks around the room sleepily. She looks a little confused as to why she is in my room, as if trying to remember.
"Joon, you didn't have to stay while I slept." She stands, straightening her clothes. "I need to go check on Joon."
"I texted Eunji a little bit ago. Joon's doing fine. She's been playing, and Eunji even got some food in her," I reassure her.
"Thank you," she says quietly.
"You don't have to thank me, Mel. Like I said, you're not alone anymore. We're here for you and Joon."
"Well, I will get out of your hair." She stands to leave.
We step into the hallway and I walk her to her room. We hear voices from inside, and I follow her inside when she opens the door. Joon is sitting in the middle of the bed, wrapped in a blanket with all of her BT21 stuffed animals around her. On the other bed lounge, the guys, they are watching some animated movie, and she is explaining something to them. The minute Joon sees her, she jumps up and runs to Mel. Mel picks her up, wrapping her in a hug.
"Hey, bug. How are you feeling?"
"Good and hungry." She looks over Mel's shoulder at me and holds her arms out.
I reach for her, making sure it is okay with Mel. I take Joon in my arms, and she hugs my neck.
"Okay, you need to sit and get caught up."
She points at the bed, signaling me to take a seat, and she starts explaining the characters to me.
Mel POV
Watching Joon with my daughter fills me with both warmth and fear at the same time. He is so gentle and patient with her. Right now, he is listening intently, hanging on to her every word, as she tells him who each character is and what they have been doing up until this point in the movie.
What terrifies me is I can tell he is starting to be an important person in her life. I don't want her to get attached to them. I know as their manager, she will most likely see them some but I don't want her to get used to seeing them and being close to them. It will break her heart when they go back to their normal life without her. I feel tears well up in my eyes, and I mumble something about getting food and step into the hall with my phone.
I order us food from Panda Express, already knowing what everyone wants, and I sit in the hallway until I get the notification that it is here. Hwan steps off the elevator with bags in hand. Standing, I take them from him and head back into my room. The first movie must have ended because another one has begun. I pass the food out, and we all sit and eat.
