The next few weeks fly by as Joon and I settle into our new roles as husband and wife and, most importantly, as parents to Joonbug. Balancing work, family life, and the public eye is more challenging than I expected. Joon is constantly on the go, preparing for the tour, and I'm deep in logistics, making sure everything runs smoothly. Despite the busyness, we keep our promise to carve out time for just us as a family.
One Saturday morning, we're all in the kitchen. Joon is making breakfast—well, more like burning toast—and Bug is sitting at the counter, flipping through a book Eunji had given her, telling him all about it, and showing him the pictures. The sight of them together, laughing and teasing each other, makes my heart melt. This is what I always wanted: a home filled with love for her.
"Mom, can I have a sleepover at the dorm again tonight?" Bug asks, glancing up from her book and pulling from my thoughts.
I exchange a glance with Joon, who smirks knowingly. "Planning another all-nighter with your uncles, huh? Don't think I forgot how you guys stayed up until three last time."
Bug's eyes widen innocently. "We didn't mean to! But Uncle Kooky said we had to finish the movie!"
Joon laughs, shaking his head. "Of course, Kook kept you up."
I sigh playfully. "Fine, but only if you promise to go to bed earlier this time. And I'll make sure to have a word with Uncle Kooky."
Bug grins. "Deal!"
Later that evening, after dropping Bug off at the dorm, I came home to find Joon lounging on the couch, waiting for me. He looks up with that mischievous glint in his eyes—the one that always makes my core clench.
"So, it's just us tonight," he says, his voice low and playful, motioning me over.
I smile, walk over, and sink into his lap, my knees on either side of him. His arms wrap around my waist immediately, pulling me closer.
"What are we going to do with all this alone time?" I ask, tracing my fingers along the line of his jaw.
He grins, pressing a kiss to my collarbone. "I have a few ideas."
Before I can respond, his lips find mine, instantly deepening the kiss. His hands slide down to my hips, lifting me as he shifts us both until I'm lying beneath him on the couch. His mouth trails down my neck, sending shivers across my skin.
"No one to be quiet for tonight. I'm going to make you scream," he promises as his hand goes under my shirt, squeezing my boob in his hand as he grinds down into me, causing my breath to hitch.
We never make it to the bed, both of us too impatient. An hour later, we're lying on the floor of the living room, both breathless and spent. Joon's arm is draped across my waist, and he's watching me, his thumb gently tracing circles on my skin.
"I love you, Mel."
"I love you."
The next few weeks are nothing but preparations for the tour. I'm swamped with last-minute details—venue changes, promotional shoots, travel logistics. The guys are in and out of the studio, rehearsing, meeting with choreographers, and running through setlists. Joon and I don't see each other much, and it feels like the only time I see Bug is when she is sleeping or when Eunji brings her by the company. One afternoon, as I'm finalizing the schedule for the US leg of the tour, Joon walks into my office, looking tired.
"Got a minute?" he asks, leaning against the doorframe.
I nod, pushing my laptop aside. "That's all I have."
He walks over and sits on the edge of my desk, his expression thoughtful. "I've been thinking about what you said. About us making time for ourselves during the tour."
