The Complications-SNK fanfic

I could hardly believe the words coming out of Armin's mouth. Is that how he truly felt about me?

"What do you mean?! I don't have everything! You think this is grand, being a Titan and all?! You couldn't be more wrong. You don't know how many death glances I get, how many people don't trust me and how much responsibility there is. If you want to trade places, you're more than welcome to," I yell back at him. Then, I turn around and I storm away.  I expected Mikasa to follow me right away but when I turned around to see her, she looked conflicted. As if she didn't know if she should stay with Armin or with me. 

"Mikasa?" I say, in an aggravated tone. She looks once more at Armin's door before following me. There was a bit of an awkward silence as we walked back to the breakfast hall. Armin will turn up, sooner or later. We're training today. 

"Eren?" Mikasa says, suddenly. I turn to look at her, with an angry scowl still present on my face. I realized how innocent and sad she was so I relaxed my face a bit. I looked like I was scaring her. 

"Yes?" I reply. 

She looks away before looking nervously back at me. "Do you.... do you share the same feelings I have for you?" she asked me, almost stuttering. I sigh.

"Mikasa, I'm sorry. But just as you're not ready for Armin, I'm not ready for you," I try, my voice as shaky as ever. I can just see Mikasa's face turn sour, even though she didn't show it. I felt so bad. "Please, don't be mad at me or anything. I still love you, just not in that way," I say, hoping that it would close the gap that would wide open. The gap between friendship and being enemies. Mikasa says nothing.

Suddenly, she just turns around and walks towards her room. Before she slammed the door shut, I swear I heard a sob. Should I go to her? Or should I leave her be? I might make things worse...

"Oi! Cadet!" a voice barks behind me. I swish around and see the heart-stopping Levi. Dammit! I thought, Now's not the time! I give him a fake smile. 

"Levi Heichou!" I say, walking slightly towards him. He nods. 

"I am unaware of your name, Cadet. What might it be?" he asks me.

"Eren Jaeger," I reply. He nods. 

"Well then, Eren Jaeger, you must be on with training. I shall see you there," he says, before walking off. I saluted him.
