"I need to make a few phone calls," Chris said as he gestured to the other room. "I want to know how a civilian got her hands on this thing."
I nodded as I wrapped my arms around Beomgyu and pulled him closer to me. "We're going to stay here until we get confirmation that those papers have been filed and then we'll head to Chris' plane."
I wasn't stepping foot outside this room until I knew for sure that my marriage to Beomgyu was legal. If we had to do it again, then we would.
I glanced over to where the security guards were holding Lim Jin and Lim Kyungho. Kyungho was awake now and both men had been handcuffed and seated in chairs by the door. The security guards stood over them looking menacing, which I liked.
I would have preferred driving my fist into their faces again, but Beomgyu was about to shake apart. He needed me to protect him more than I needed to relieve my anger.
"Can you have them arrested for attempted kidnapping?"
Beomgyu sucked in a quick breath.
"I can do that," the judge said as he reached for the phone, "and I'll add breaking and entering and assault to those charges."
"You can't do that," one of the men in cuffs snapped. "We didn't try to kidnap anyone. We were just taking Beomgyu back to the wedding."
I glared at the two men, letting them see every bit of disdain I felt for them. "I believe the definition of kidnapping is trying to force someone to go somewhere against their will, and that's exactly what you did to Beomgyu."
"Beomgyu is marrying our sister," the man snarled back. "He loves her."
I winced at that statement. It felt like a knife in the gut. I know Beomgyu said he didn't want to marry Hana, but did he ever have feelings for her? Yeonjun had said he did, but what was the truth?
I had never even questioned if Beomgyu was gay or straight. I'd protect him no matter what, but I probably should have asked, especially before I kissed him.
"Stop lying, Jin," Beomgyu said. "I never loved Hana and you know that. She was forcing me to marry her."
Jin snorted. "Don't be stupid, Beomgyu. No one can force someone else to marry them."
"I'm not stupid!" He pushed away from me. "Your sister is a monster and so are you. I hate you all."
"Hush, baby boy." I pulled him back to my side. He was starting to unravel. "There's no use arguing with a madman. He will never see reason."
If I thought Hana's brothers could see things from Beomgyu's point of view, I'd let him continue talking, but I knew they never would. They didn't see what they had done as wrong.
It started me wondering just why they were so bound and determined to get Beomgyu and Hana married. I understood that there was a lot of money involved, but they were facing serious jail time here. What could be worth that?
I kept Beomgyu with me as I walked out into the other room. There was no way in hell that I was going to let him be on his own at this time.
"Chris, can you ask Rina to look into Hana and her brothers? Hell, the whole Lim family. It feels to me like this is overkill just so they can get their hands on Beomgyu's inheritance."
Chris had a phone pressed to his ear when he glanced at me. "I've got Rina on the line now. I'll ask her. Is there anything specific you are looking for?"
"From what Beomgyu has told me, Hana planned to marry him so she could get her hands on the money he's supposed to inherit from his grandmother when he turns twenty-five."
